Job Purpose
Support the end to end processing of distributed generation (DG) interconnection applications and projects during the application review and technical screening process as defined by the Massachusetts interconnection tariff and/or MA smart tariff, National Grid electrical standards (esb750-756). Work in a cross functional environment to ensure that customer projects brought to the company are processed within the respective state regulatory timelines. Support the customer engineers in their management of small to mid-size, distributed generation projects. Support includes monitoring of work management requirements and preparation of various agreements, as well as other duties as assigned. Act as the customer’s primary point of contact for small to mid-size projects, guiding them through the distributed generation process including tariff related questions and concerns, obtaining required documentation, perform preliminary technical screenings and help coordinate internal functions to meet customer expectations and tariff timeframes. Help manage projects by utilizing and properly maintaining the company’s work management system. Develop and maintain effective relationships within CEI, DPAM, distribution design, account development, inside and outsides sales, energy product & program management, jurisdictional teams and external vendors in order to facilitate communications, integrate work and ensure the successful delivery of customer organization products and programs. Challenge existing policies and procedures to continuously seek ways to enhance customer service and cost-effectiveness, Provide process and technical guidance to others in order to share knowledge and increase understanding of distributed generation programs and services. Analyze and evaluate developments in distributed generation and renewable energy technologies in order to identify impact of different scenarios on the business and strategies for integrating cost efficiencies. Support internal and external outreach sessions to educate various DG stakeholders on DG process and policy. Negotiate, develop, and administer all aspects of interconnection related agreements. Provide energy efficiency and growth leads to the sales organization as applicable. Update and maintain company websites with latest program information.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Technology and 3 years of experience in a related customer focused occupation in renewable energy industry/organization. Alternatively, Associates degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Technology, and 3 years of experience in a related customer focused occupation in renewable energy industry/organization including 3 years electric utility distribution design experience are acceptable. The position also requires: 1 year experience with Massachusetts interconnection tariff; 3 years experience in renewable energy programs, including interconnection tariffs, project management and people management; 1 year experience in various regulatory policies and interconnection related standards; 3 years experience reading one and three-line diagrams, schematics, site plans, and recommending/overseeing changes to documentation, site plans and line diagrams; 3 years experience of electric grid configurations (e.g. ESB 750/756); 3 years experience in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; 6 months of experience with evaluating distributed generation (solar) systems proposing to operate in parallel with the electric distribution system and determining if the proposed would negatively impact the distribution grid’s reliability, and if so how to mitigate any adverse effects. Telecommuting may be permitted. When not telecommuting, must report/appear into/at the National Grid offices in Worcester, MA. 131,414 - $131,414 per year.
