Job Purpose

The Telecom Supervisor, under the general direction of the Manager or Sr. Supervisor, will be responsible for overseeing a group of telecom technicians performing both maintenance and construction activities. Telecom technicians are represented employees. Supervisors coordinate and monitor the daily activities of assigned technicians to ensure high standards of safety, security, work quality and accuracy, environmental compliance. The supervisor is also responsible for ensuring uninterrupted service is delivered to customers and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner consistent with Company and regulatory requirements.

Key Accountabilities

The Telecom Performance Supervisor's role is to provide front line leadership for field operations. Working as one team, one National Grid, the role has an array of responsibilities that include assuring a safe work culture, driving performance, coaching, mentoring, training and overall development of the field workforce. This leadership role understands the work execution process, work coordination for a multi skilled workforce for construction, operation, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment, metering systems, SCADA, two-way radio, and microwave and fiber systems. 

 

The candidate must be focused on results with an acumen for developing clear and specific goals. Candidate must exhibit interpersonal skills consisting of excellent communication in active listening and clear and precise presentations.  Management skills encouraging group participation and diversity of thought.  Planning, scheduling, and coordinating projects and budget requirements.  A team player building group spirit, while exhibiting a professional work ethic and leadership skills that inspire others to the need for specific changes in the way work is accomplished.  Safety, Leadership, and Customer Focus are some of the key goals. Will be required to maintain a high level of technical aptitude and skill. Manages an expense budget which includes labor, material, transportation, and other operating expenses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Networking, or another related field with 3 years of experience in telecommunications, metering, Scada, two-way radio, microwave and fiber systems, or similar technical field, servicing customers and supervising employees.

 

Or

 

  • Associate’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Networking, or another related field 5 years of experience in telecommunications, metering, SCADA, two-way radio, microwave and fiber systems, servicing customers, and supervising employees. 

 

Or

 

  • Minimum of seven years in telecommunications, metering, Scada, two-way radio, microwave and fiber systems maintenance.

 

  • FCC GROL or other approved form of certification to be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Ability to work off-hours and on call rotations, including occasional travel outside the Division.
  • Qualify for Authorized Persons List to coordinate and initiate switching.
  • Supervisory/Interpersonal- Experience Required
  • Excellent communications in active listening and clear and precise presentations.

Salary

 

$115,000 - $135,000 a year

 

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company’s testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
