Job Purpose

 

As a Transmission Network Engineer, you will support the network with fault response and second line support across the country with our pressure vessels. Providing the expertise for the challenges facing our operations colleagues on site. You will enact the role of Responsible Engineer within National Grid for all things pressure systems related and make the crucial decisions on what can and can’t be safely operated within the boundaries of our legal compliance, ensuring that the highest standards of Safety, Quality, Sustainability, Environmental considerations, and Resilience are applied in the process of maintaining high power system reliability.

 

Your contributions will also be vital in certifying our pressure systems against The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations, guaranteeing that all our systems have up to date Written Schemes of Examination, being the custodian of the data and records across the National Grid Transmission System.

 

This is a hybrid role with a mix of office and site work, but we’re happy to discuss any flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

What you'll do

 

  • Discharge the role of Responsible Engineer to maintain compliance of statutory obligations of our high-pressure systems
  • Ensure our Written Schemes of Examination are maintained and kept up to date.
  • Provide second line support to operational colleagues regards issues on our high-pressure plant
  • Collaborate with our planning teams to prioritise compliance with PSSR
  • Provide training to operational field staff as and when required
  • Input as the Subject Matter Expert into incident investigations

About You

 

  • A mechanical engineering background with experience operating and maintaining high pressure systems.
  • Previous experience working on power system electrical plant would be advantageous.
  • Extensive knowledge of The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000.
  • Experience working in an industrial environment on air boards and/or hydraulic systems.
  • An understanding of measuring dew points of conditioned air would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrable leadership skills and knowledge of successful project delivery.
  • Experienced in effective communication skills, including the ability to make persuasive presentations to multi-disciplined teams / audiences.
  • Experienced in building and maintain relationships internally and externally with key stakeholders.

Up To £65,000 dependent on experience.
