National Grid is hiring a Team Administrator within our Substations & Cables team - Warwick - Hybrid working.
Job Purpose
As the volume and pace of delivery continues to grow across Substations and Cables, we are looking for an effective and dependable Team Administrator to ensure that actions, commitments and information arising from Substation Operations activities are accurately captured, monitored, progressed and evidenced, supporting safe, efficient and well‑governed delivery.
The Operations (Substations & Cables) department consistents of six regional teams, as well as capital development, and commissioning teams. The department employs ~1300 people, with colleagues ranging from Level 3 to Band C, both field and office based, so you will need to be comfortable engaging with colleagues all levels of the business.
What you'll do
Action and Delivery Tracking
- Maintain clear and up‑to‑date trackers covering actions and commitments arising from Substation Operations activity, including improvement initiatives, assurance activity, governance forums and projects.
- Ensure actions are accurately recorded, assigned to appropriate owners and updated in line with agreed timescales.
- Proactively follow up with action owners and highlight overdue or at‑risk items to the line manager.
- Maintain records that are suitable for governance, assurance and audit purposes.
Governance and Administrative Support
- Provide administrative support associated with Substation Operations governance and working groups.
- Support preparation and collation of inputs where required and maintain accurate records of outputs and actions.
- Ensure documentation is stored, version‑controlled and accessible within Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
- Support consistent use of templates and standard ways of working.
- Provide general administrative support to the Substation Operations team within agreed scope.
Reporting and Information Management
- Assist with the collation and organisation of information for routine reports, updates and briefings.
- Support preparation of simple briefing packs or presentation material when requested.
- Ensure information is accurate, timely and clearly presented.
- This role does not include direct inbox or diary management but there will be a requirement to schedule meetings on behalf of the Leadership team (e.g. monthly leadership meetings and All Hands calls.
About you
- Experience in an administrative or business support role.
- Experience using structured trackers or logs to support delivery.
- Experience tracking information across multiple activities.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence using Microsoft 365 tools, including Excel, Word, Teams and SharePoint.
- Comfortable following up actions and working with colleagues at different levels.
- Able to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Experience supporting operational, technical or engineering teams.
What you'll do
A competitive salary between £30,000 - £35,000 – dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
