Lead the future of energy regulation at National Grid — Superpowered delivery starts here
This isn’t just another programme role. This is a pivotal opportunity to shape how National Grid delivers some of the most complex, high-impact regulatory programmes in the UK energy sector.
As a Senior Strategic Programme Manager, you will sit at the heart of transformation — driving delivery across a rapidly evolving landscape defined by RIIO-T3, Connections Reform, and increasing regulatory pace.
What's in it for you?
Salary between £93,000 p.a. and £114,000 p.a. depending on experience.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance of up to 40% - a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also receive private medical insurance and the option to a full EV company car or cash alternative. Additionally, you will have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
What you''ll be getting up to
- Lead complex regulatory programmes from mobilisation through delivery, ensuring alignment to company strategy, regulatory requirements and business outcomes.
- Leading virtual project teams to deliver programme outcomes.
- Design and run effective governance (forums, decision points, reporting and assurance) to enable timely decisions and clear accountability across multiple directorates.
- Own integrated planning and control: manage interdependencies, identify and address risks, issues and opportunities, and maintain mitigation plans with clear owners and timescales.
- Translate regulatory and policy developments into clear delivery plans and impacts, synthesising inputs from National Grid, Ofgem and wider industry to inform programme direction.
- Drive communication and change across stakeholders: ensure actions are understood and delivered, and track progress against agreed milestones and intended benefits.
About you
- Proven experience managing large programmes in regulated environments, delivering results even where things are evolving or unclear
- Experience leading programme teams and PMOs, creating clear ways of working, governance, reporting and assurance across complex activity
- An understanding of RIIO T3 (or the ability to build this quickly) and how regulatory frameworks translate into delivery plans and reporting
- Comfortable working across complex organisations, bringing people together and helping build alignment where priorities differ
- Strong communication and stakeholder skills, with confidence to engage, influence and constructively challenge senior leaders
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explore options, balance trade-offs, and manage risks, issues, dependencies and benefits
