Senior Regulatory Lead
About the role
National Grid Interconnectors is at the heart of UK’s transition to our net zero energy future. We operate a number of HVDC Interconnectors that connect the UK’s energy system to some of our closest neighbours, allowing energy to be imported to and exported from the UK.
As well as already owning a portfolio of HVDC Interconnectors, we’re working on developing new projects to ensure that we are able to meet the UK’s future demands for greener energy solutions.
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Regulatory Lead on a 12 month secondment within National Grid Ventures.
As a Senior Regulatory Lead you will lead the development of our positions on how interconnectors can continue to be a central piece of the net zero energy transition while ensuring that our operational business continues to meet its regulatory obligations. You will also be responsible for communicating and agreeing these positions with numerous opportunities to present your work to senior internal and external stakeholders including government officials, regulators and other influential people across industry.
This role is hybrid with our base office in Warwick, with an expectation to be in the office upto twice a week.
What you'll do
You will be given responsibility to develop, lead and influence our positions on specific government and regulatory policy areas impacting our interconnectors. The areas of work associated with this role will include;
- How the UK should determine the future requirements for interconnection and which projects can be constructed to meet this requirement.
- Excellent collaborative working with partners and stakeholders across Great Britain and Europe taking opportunities to build a wide network of great working relationships inside and outside of National Grid.
- Anticipating and analysing initiatives being taken forward by governments and regulators, working out the implications on our interconnectors.
- Deliver insight and analysis, working with internal and external stakeholders, building convincing support for your proposals.
- Compose high quality written submissions for key external decision makers including regulators and government.

- Excellent written and verbal communication is also expected, as you will often present your proposals to a senior audience.
- Good attention to detail is required given the financial and reputational value of the work involved.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £55,000.00 - £65,000.00 – dependent on capability.
