National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is entering an exciting phase of growth across its two core business units: Electricity Transmission (ET) and Strategic Infrastructure (SI). Together, these teams are at the forefront of delivering some of the UK’s most significant electricity transmission projects, enabling the connection of clean, low carbon energy across England and Wales.
This is a high-visibility role supporting the SI business and owning the overall investment financial plan for NGET. In this role, you will have direct and frequent contact and collaboration with the NGET and SI CFOs, the NGET Financial Controller and Head of FP+A, the Group Financial Controller and FP+A teams as well as members of both the ET and SI executive teams.
Working closely with the Senior Manager FP&A NGET and ET, you will also help develop and enhance the quarterly forecasting process, strategic business plan, supporting and leading on transformation across our financial planning process, contributing to the success of some of the UK’s most transformative energy projects.
This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week with some regional travel but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
What You’ll Do:
- Act as a trusted financial advisor to the SI and NGET leadership teams, shaping major investment, phasing and funding decisions through insight led analysis.
- Own investment planning, budgeting and forecasting for a large, capital intensive portfolio, including annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and longer term business plans.
- Lead scenario planning and sensitivity analysis to assess trade offs, risks and options across major investment and portfolio decisions.
- Deliver a clear, joined up financial narrative, translating complex financial, regulatory and delivery information into concise, decision focused recommendations.
- Present financial results, forecasts and insights to senior executives and CFOs, influencing outcomes through clear storytelling, judgement and commercial insight.
- Provide forward looking insight on value, affordability, risk and opportunity, proactively identifying issues and opportunities across the investment portfolio.
- Lead the evolution of FP&A processes, embedding stronger scenario modelling and portfolio analysis while maintaining robust financial controls and SOX compliance.
- Build and lead a high performing FP&A team, developing strong commercial capability and senior stakeholder engagement.
What You’ll Have:
- Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with proven FP&A experience gained in a complex, fast moving environment.
- Clear, confident communication and storytelling skills, able to simplify complex financial and regulatory information for senior audiences.
- Proven experience leading budgeting, forecasting and planning cycles in a complex or capital intensive environment.
- Commercial acumen and the ability to support investment decisions aligned to strategic priorities.
- Credibility to influence stakeholders across engineering, delivery, regulatory and finance teams.
- Resilience, drive and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
- Excellent relationship building skills and the ability to bring teams together to deliver shared outcomes.

What You'll Get:
£90,000-£100,000 - dependant on experience.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance with on target being 20% (with a maximum of 40%) and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%, Private Medical Insurance, A company electric vehicle or cash alternative, plus many more flexible benefits.
