We are seeking an experienced second line assurance professional with a proven track record of undertaking assurance reviews to join our team as a Senior Assurance Specialist. This position will be located in our Warwick, UK office with hybrid working.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded second line assurance team. The team supports the entirety of the Electricity Transmission business meaning we have a broad assurance universe to review and you will have a wide variety of work. The successful candidate will be expected to operate with autonomy, with responsibility for the delivery of the planning, fieldwork and reporting of each assurance engagement in a supportive team environment. As a member of our second line team there is also an opportunity to support and help the business to develop and improve our overall control framework. Cyber, IT and Financial controls testing are undertaken by dedicated teams and NOT part of this role.
What you'll do
• Collaborate closely with the NGET risk team and business to understand existing control frameworks and processes.
• Operate with autonomy to deliver the planning, fieldwork and reporting on a broad range of assurance topics
• Assess the effectiveness of controls and identify areas for improvement.
• Support the Electricity Transmission business to embed control improvements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders from all teams to build effective working relationships to support the broader assurance programme.
• Stay up-to-date with industry best practices.
• Act as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and support to the business on control-related matters.
• Collaborate with the risk team to understand the current risk environment and planned developments.
• Conduct stakeholder management throughout the lifecycle of assurance engagements.
• Coordinate fieldwork activities with key stakeholders, including risk owners and control owners.
• Prepare draft reports aligned to the design and operational findings from fieldwork activities.
• Ensure key findings are peer-reviewed and calibrated with the Assurance Manager.
• Coordinate the final review of assurance reports with key stakeholders.
• Lead the development of the final report and agreed remediation plans or recommendations.
• Collaborate with the risk team to ensure assurance outputs are fed back into the risk and control process.
• Review assurance activity methodology and provide feedback to the Assurance Manager on areas for improvement.
• Work with colleagues across the department to undertake assurance activities that are outside your specialism.
• Contribute to broader NGET Risk, Assurance & Compliance team objectives.
What you'll have
• Strong knowledge of control frameworks.
• A proven track record of delivery end to end assurance reviews.
• Great stakeholder management skills to build strong relationships at different levels of the organization to make you an effective assurance provider.
• A thirst for learning and passion for staying abreast of good practice developments.
A strong team player, agile to respond to changes in a dynamic assurance plan as we continue to best support our business stakeholders and support the broader Risk and Assurance Team.
• Possesses experience in professional risk management, audit/assurance, or a related field, including involvement in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) projects or teams within a large organisation.
