At National Grid, we are looking for a passionate and skilled Project Development Engineer to join our dynamic team in the Asset Operations business. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-disciplined development team who are responsible for all the steps before a project goes in to delivery and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our HV Plant investments. We’re flexible on your base location, hybrid working a mix of home, office and site.

 

As a Project Development Engineer, you will be at the forefront of projects, overseeing the setup, option selection, and development of HV Plant initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Leading the scheme team during pre-construction phases, ensuring timely stakeholder engagement and agreement on investment selections.
  • Developing optimal, efficient, and safe solutions while adhering to CDM Regulations and SHESQ considerations.
  • Conducting site assessments, cost estimations, and supporting the tendering process to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to monitor and control the portfolio of HV Plant investments, providing accurate financial forecasting.

Must haves:

  • Degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline, or relevant experience.
  • Proven pre construction project management experience including time, cost and risk management.
  • CDM, Health & Safety and Environmental legislation proficiency.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and a stakeholder-centric approach.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable

  • An understanding of substation HV plant.

Pay and Benefits

  • Starting salary £54,090 to £65,000 pa + £4,500 pa Market supplement.
  • 37 hours Mon – Fri, 26 days annual leave plus 8 statutory days
  • Contribution Pension scheme max total 18%.
