National Grid is hiring a Principal Delivery Lead. This role is designated as hybrid, with an expectation of one or two days per month in the Warwick, UK office. Requirements may vary based on business needs and company policy.
Job Purpose
We are seeking a Principal Delivery Lead to lead delivery across key Functions capabilities spanning People, Performance, and Finance within ET CIDO Functions.
This role will be responsible for leading a complex portfolio of digital, data, and AI-enabled initiatives supporting RIIO-T3 mobilisation, executive performance visibility, workforce transformation, and enterprise reporting capabilities.
Acting as the senior delivery lead across the domain, you will oversee roadmap execution, delivery governance, cross-functional dependency management, and operational mobilisation across multiple product and delivery teams.
You will work closely with executive business stakeholders across ET and Group Functions, ensuring strategic priorities are translated into executable delivery plans with measurable outcomes.
This role combines portfolio leadership, delivery execution, stakeholder engagement, and operating model maturity within a fast-moving and highly complex enterprise environment.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead end-to-end delivery across Functions portfolio.
- Own and drive integrated delivery roadmaps aligned to ET and RIIO-T3 priorities.
- Manage and coordinate delivery across multiple product, data, architecture, and engineering teams.
- Establish and maintain effective governance, delivery cadence, dependency management, and risk escalation across the portfolio.
- Partner with senior ET and Group stakeholders to align priorities, unblock delivery, and drive adoption of strategic capabilities.
- Support delivery of executive-level performance reporting and trusted data capabilities across operational, financial, and workforce domains.
- Drive delivery planning and mobilisation for strategic initiatives including workforce/resource management, executive performance capability, and Finance/HR data products.
- Ensure delivery aligns with architecture, security, data governance, and operational readiness standards.
- Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Functions operating model, delivery maturity, and organisational capability.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and oversight across delivery teams within the domain.
Qualifications
- Significant experience leading complex enterprise delivery portfolios across digital, data, and transformation initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder management capability, including engagement with executive-level business and technology leaders.
- Experience operating within large-scale matrix organisations with significant cross-functional dependencies.
- Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and portfolio governance.
- Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritise effectively, and drive delivery outcomes at pace.
- Experience delivering data, reporting, or enterprise platform capabilities within regulated or operational environments is desirable.
- Strong communication, influencing, and leadership capability.
