National Grid Interconnectors is at the forefront of delivering low carbon electricity between Great Britain and Europe. With a portfolio of 7.8GW of interconnection capacity, we provide infrastructure to move power to where it is most needed, providing security of supply and access to affordable power for the countries that we connect.
This is a critical time for the energy sector, as government policies and regulatory arrangements are being shaped to advance the transition to a clean and affordable power system. These developments will set the frameworks for how future interconnector projects are delivered and the cross-border market arrangements for how existing interconnectors operate.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Performance Lead.
The role sits within our Strategy, Performance and Development Team which is accountable for delivery of our Strategic Business Plan and Financial Planning, owning our Learning and Development offerings including our entry level development programmes and the production of all materials used for team meetings and external engagements.
The role will be focused on ensuring that our Leadership Team drive business performance forward through the production of high-quality management reporting packs and facilitation of key meetings. There will also be lots of opportunity to get involved across the team and the wider department.
The role is hybrid so you can enjoy working from home as well as in the office based in Warwick.
Please note that interviews will be held for the role on week commencing 16th March.
What you'll do
- Facilitate the creation of UJV Operations annual Performance Contract (including KPIs, critical outcomes and Leadership Team objectives). Work closely with Interconnectors Chief of Staff, other Performance Leads and the Operations Leadership Team.
- Lead the preparation of meeting materials for Operations Leadership Meetings, All Operations Team calls and other key committees as requested and per agreed SLAs.
- Act as the Technical Secretary for the Operations management meetings.
- Drive and facilitate the processes and organisation behind performance management including ensuring the timely progress of the Leadership Team closing out committed actions and objectives.
- Prepare high-quality updates and briefings for Leadership Team up to NG Group Executive, working closely with Data & Analytics team on key metrics.
- Lead Employee Engagement Surveys results and action planning including cascading results, understanding and trending of results across Operations and lead the operations improvement plans.
- Lead department wide communications strategy, holding the Leadership Team to account for sharing timely and pertinent updates at the appropriate frequency.
- Take a leading role in a variety of strategic, cross-directorate initiatives and projects.
- Provide briefings and speeches as required by the Director of Operations.
What you'll need
- Broad understanding of National Grid and its position within the Energy Industry including an intellectual curiosity and natural interest in business. Broad understanding of the energy industry and wider economic, social and political forces impacting upon it.
- Candidates must have an understanding of the Interconnectors business to be able to provide advice and counsel to the Director of Operations and the management team
- Strong networking and influencing skills, demonstrated through a track record in current and / or previous roles.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to create high quality reports for a wide variety of audiences and incorporating multiple data sets.
- A strong track record of delivery and performance – a self-starter, confident and independent, ability to work to tight deadlines in a high pace environment.
- Experience of working and making critical business and operational decisions with conflicting priorities and under pressure.
- Presenting performance related information to executive teams and provide insights from data.
- Full UK driving licence

A competitive salary between £54,090 - £63,940 per annum dependent on capability.
