OHL Site Services Manager

We’re looking for a passionate OHL Site Services Manager to join our Overhead Lines team!

 

They lead the OHL Site Services teams in delivering national services across OHL Operations, with a focus on equipment storage and logistics. The OHL Site Service Manager will be accountable for the effective provision of facilities (including the OHL National Hub), people, equipment and processes to enable the delivery of OHL works including aviation.

 

They ensure a safe working environment, compliance with relevant legislation, and the effective delivery of all work to agreed time, cost and quality standards.

 

This role is based out of our Wednesbury office, and we’d hope to see you at least 2 days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

What You'll Do

  • Lead a generative safety culture across all levels.
  • Manage safety, cost, quality and efficient delivery of the work plan.
  • Drive unit cost performance and commerciality within the team.
  • Ensure Procedural and Legislative compliance and technical integrity of services provided.
  • Capability and performance management of staff, including recruitment, competency and training.
  • Ensure the team has response capability in place for urgent provision of services.  
  • Manage and mitigate emerging risks.
  • Create and maintain a high performing team, embracing change management. 
  • Generate a culture of collaborative working to support national priorities.
  • Manage change preparing for future demands and outputs, and changes in technology or legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with fleet and goods vehicle operator licence requirements.
  • Develop new workstreams and revenue generating opportunities.
  • Support development of new services to meet the future needs of the AO and the electricity network
  • Manage and contractual and commercial arrangements to support.

What You'll Have

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum HNC or equivalent in a logistics, manufacturing or engineering discipline.
  • Significant experience in leading a multi-disciplined operational team.
  • Strong commercial understanding and the ability to manage a large team budget, driving down unit costs by continuous improvement.
  • Good understanding of OHL Operational processes and HV systems, encompassing electrical and mechanical engineering disciplines.
  • Demonstration of experience in managing statutory obligations, legal and regulatory requirements, including LOLER, PUWER and management of goods vehicle operator licence requirements.
  • Understanding of the interaction of site services activities on the wider operation of the HV system.
  • Planning and Project delivery experience.
  • Good understanding of National Grid’s operational policies, procedures and processes
  • Effective people management and communication skills are essential for this role.
  • Demonstration of a detailed understanding of the company’s performance management process, personal development, managing poor performance and sickness absence.

What You'll Get

Up to £80,000 dependent on experience.

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance with on target being 15% (with a maximum of 30%) and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
