We’re looking for a passionate Network Manager (SCADA) Network Operation & Intelligence team!

 

The Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system is critical to the safe, secure and economic operation of the England and Wales electricity transmission system. The SCADA Network Manager is responsible for the management and optimisation of the SCADA network, with a focus on advanced applications, power network analysis and mastery of the SCADA network model. The role includes development and testing of training simulators for operational scenarios and conditional action schemes, conducting pre‑operational assessments for switching and safety operations, and leading initiatives in optimisation and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance network performance and reliability.

 

This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you at least 1-2 days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the implementation and management of advanced applications within the SCADA network to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.
  • Conduct comprehensive power network analysis to assess performance, identify issues, and recommend improvements to enhance network reliability.
  • Maintain the NGET Network Model, and lead tuning, refinement and stewardship ensuring data governance and compliance is adhered to, ensuring its effective application in operational scenarios and system enhancements.
  • Manage the applications, design and development of training simulators for delivering operational and safety scenarios, to the training teams and end users, ensuring they accurately reflect real-world conditions and support staff training.
  • Develop and execute testing protocols for various operational scenarios and conditional action schemes to validate system responses and improve safety.
  • Conduct pre-operational assessments for switching and safety operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards and operational protocols.
  • Drive the development of optimisation strategies and AI applications to enhance network performance, predictive maintenance, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment on project goals, share insights, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

What You'll Have

  • STEM Qualification at degree level (preferably in electrical or computer science field).
  • Project management, ILM Level 5 or equivalent experience.
  • Management of Specialist Engineers on Critical National Infrastructure.
  • Project management, change management and process efficiency (6 Sigma/Lean).
  • Experience of SCADA asset and RTU databases, displays and network modelling.
  • Experience of control room deliverables, roles, and functions.
  • Excellent technical understanding of the electricity industry coupled with strong management and leadership skills.
  • Thorough understanding of National Grid obligations regarding Ofgem, BEIS and other license conditions, as well as industry requirements (Grid Code, SO-TO Code, STCPs).
  • OPEX and CAPEX budgets, forecasting and finance management.

What You'll Get

Up to £78,000 dependent on experience.

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance with on target being 15% (with a maximum of 30%) and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
