National Grid is hiring for a Human & Organisational Performance Manager - This position can be based from various UK offices - Hybrid Working model.

Job Purpose

 

The Human and Organisational Performance Manager is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of strategies to enhance the safety performance, and well-being of our workforce, while promoting a positive organizational culture. The role holder will be responsible for creating and implementing strategies to enhance safety practices and protocols across the organisation, and those within our supply chain. This includes developing comprehensive behavioural safety programs and promoting the principles of HOP methodology. By fostering a safety-conscious culture and promoting proactive safety behaviours, they will contribute to the well-being and protection of our workforce. With a focus on safety they will help create a work environment where employees feel secure, valued, and motivated to perform at their best.

 

In addition to performance and well-being, the HOP Manager will play a crucial role in shaping and promoting a positive organisational safety culture. By developing and implementing strategies that align with our values and behaviours, they will foster an environment of collaboration, respect, and continuous improvement, contributing to employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention, ultimately driving our organisation's success. 

What you'll do

 

  • Develop and implement Human and Organisational Performance (HOP) strategies and initiatives to enhance overall performance, safety, and well-being within the organisation whilst collaborating with cross-functional teams to assess and identify areas for improvement in human performance, organizational processes, and systems.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and evaluation of human and organisational performance principles that contribute to incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and develop proactive measures to mitigate risks.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in the implementation of HOP principles, tools, and techniques across the organisation, and develop and deliver training programs to enhance employee awareness and understanding of HOP principles and practices.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting learning, sharing best practices, and implementing lessons learned from incidents and near-misses.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure and monitor the effectiveness of HOP initiatives.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with HOP standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide coaching and support to managers and employees in implementing HOP strategies and practices.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements related to human and organizational performance, and incorporate them into the organisation's HOP framework.

About you

 

  • Proven experience in Human and Organisational Performance management, preferably in high-risk industries such as manufacturing, energy, or construction.
  • Strong knowledge of HOP principles, tools, and techniques, including Human Factors Analysis and Classification System (HFACS), Safety-II, and Safety Differently.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns, trends, and root causes of incidents and near-misses.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement HOP strategies, initiatives, and training programs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to lead and influence change, fostering a positive safety culture and promoting continuous improvement.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented, with excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards related to safety and human performance.
  • Driving Licence - this role will require you to visit multiple sites.

What you'll get

 

A competitive salary around £68,000 - £75,000 – dependent on capability

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
