This role will play a critical part in shaping forward-looking procurement and supply chain strategies across National Grid’s HVDC portfolio, ensuring we are one step ahead of business needs in an increasingly constrained and evolving global supply market.
The HVDC Business Strategy Partner will act as a trusted business partner to National Grid business units and Procurement Programme Teams, providing data driven insight and strategic expertise to support informed decision making. The role will help anticipate and mitigate supply chain risks, manage capacity and lead times, and influence senior stakeholders across the organisation. The HVDC Business Strategy Partner will play a key role in supporting high value, complex infrastructure programmes.

This role is based out of our Warwick office, and you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home.
What You’ll Do:
- Shape category strategy – Help build and continuously improve procurement strategies for HVDC equipment and services, turning market insight and supply chain intelligence into clear, actionable plans.
- Drive supply chain insight – Track supplier capacity, lead times, and market trends to anticipate challenges, strengthen forecasting, and support confident, future focused decision making.
- Influence key stakeholders – Work with project, engineering, commercial, and finance teams to align project delivery with category strategy, ensuring solutions are realistic, compliant, and value driven.
- Provide strategic assurance – Contribute to portfolio and project reviews, offering guidance on supply chain readiness, risk, and overall deliverability.
- Deliver high quality analysis – Create clear, data driven documents, models, and presentations that simplify complexity and support senior level decisions.
- Build capability – Help shape a growing, ambitious category team by promoting strategic thinking and consistent ways of working.
What You’ll Have:
- MCIPS qualification (or progression towards) is preferred, though not essential.
- We are a highly dynamic team supporting a wide range of workstreams within our procurement category. We welcome candidates with backgrounds in procurement, engineering, energy, commercial, data, or related disciplines.
- Energy sector experience is desirable but not essential.
- A strategic thinker who enjoys working at the intersection of data, people, and long term planning, balancing strategic insight with practical delivery.
- Curious, proactive, and driven to understand supply chain and deliverability challenges.
- Significant experience in strategy, category management, supply chain, commercial, or a closely related field within complex or regulated environments.
- Highly organised, with strong capability in structuring, analysing, and interpreting data.
- Confident leader and coach, with experience supporting and developing others in multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong written and presentation skills, able to translate complex analysis into clear insights and recommendations.
- Collaborative team player with a structured, methodical approach and strong attention to detail.

What You’ll Get:
Up to £58,000 dependant on experience.
As well as your base salary you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
