National Grid is hiring a Governance and Performance Lead - This position is based from our Warwick or Sheffield office however we offer flexible hybrid working options.
Job Purpose
The role is to support the Construction Strategy Performance Manager; this individual will be responsible for overseeing reporting and governance arrangements on behalf of Construction Strategy.
They will be responsible for the development of an appropriate department governance framework, regular reporting on departmental performance, ensuring all reporting submission deadlines are met, responsible for departmental compliance with obligations and objectives.
Responsibilities will include the development and tracking of departmental risks helping to create and maintain milestone trackers and monitoring performance against established targets. The role will support the establishment of consistent processes, utilise automation where possible, and participate in regular reviews and improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
What You'll Do
- Performance Reporting and Analysis: Assist in the utilisation of data analytics tools to support the reporting and analysis of department performance, through accurate data collection and interpretation.
- Performance Monitoring: Support the utilisation of performance management tools to monitor performance against targets, contributing to the establishment of consistent processes for regular reviews and improvements based on data analysis.
- Risk Identification and Analysis: Support the development and implementation of risk assessment methodologies to identify and analyse departmental risks. Utilising data analysis to assist in developing strategies for mitigating potential issues. Help develop and implement systems for tracking departmental risks monitoring and reporting on risk status.
- Governance Framework Maintenance: Assist in the design and maintenance of governance frameworks that assist with ensuring departmental compliance with objectives and obligations, aligning processes with reporting requirements.
- Finance and Budget: Liaise with Finance Business partner and feed information on how Construction Strategy are performing against their budget
About You
Performance Reporting and Analysis:
- Knowledge: Basic understanding of performance metrics, reporting tools, and fundamental data analysis techniques relevant to performance evaluation.
- Skills: Familiarity with data visualisation software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and basic Excel for reporting; foundational analytical skills to interpret data and derive insights. Experienced in using the Microsoft Office suite
Performance Monitoring:
- Knowledge: Support the utilisation of performance management tools to monitor performance against targets, contributing to the establishment of consistent processes for regular reviews and improvements based on data analysis.
- Skills: Analytical skills to monitor performance against targets; ability to assist in establishing and refining processes for ongoing performance evaluation and improvement.
Risk Identification and Analysis:
- Knowledge: General awareness of risk management (including operational) principles and basic methodologies for identifying and assessing risks.
- Skills: Basic analytical skills to assess, track and evaluate risks; problem-solving skills to support the development of mitigation strategies based on risk analysis.
Governance Framework Development:
- Knowledge: Familiarity with compliance regulations and basic contract management principles to ensure organisational adherence.
- Skills: Basic organisational skills to assist in developing and maintaining governance frameworks; attention to detail to support compliance with relevant regulations.
Milestone Tracking:
- Skills: Good organisational skills to help create and maintain milestone trackers; ability to communicate and manage RAG (Red, Amber, Green) status
What You'll Get
A competitive salary between £48,000 – £55,000 dependent on capability
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
