About the role

 

National Grid Interconnectors is at the heart of UK’s transition to our net zero energy future. We operate a number of HVDC Interconnectors that connect the UK’s energy system to some of our closest neighbours, allowing energy to be imported to and exported from the UK.

 

As well as already owning a portfolio of HVDC Interconnectors, we’re working on developing new projects to ensure that we are able to meet the UK’s future demands for greener energy solutions.

 

We are currently recruiting for a Governance Lead to sit within our Change and Controls team at National Grid Ventures.

 

As Governance Lead, the role has broad accountability for a range of business management practices such as document and information management, risk management, programme management and change management. Your role will be focused on delivering ensuring that we have the appropriate processes and governance in place to ensure decisions are consistently taken at the right level and with the right pace across the business as well as there still being lots of opportunity to get involved across the team and the wider department.

 

The role is a hybrid role with our office based in Warwick, we’d hope to see you in 2 days per week and you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you.

 

What you'll do

 

  • Develop and implement a fit for purpose, lean governance framework including controls, templates, and reporting cadence across Operations.
  • Support end-to-end activities across Operations to ensure robust governance processes, including documentation and compliance tracking for both BAU activity and change initiatives
  • Ensure alignment with National Grid’s corporate governance standards and regulatory obligations by providing first line assurance of all Operations policies and frameworks.
  • Maintain accurate records and evidence of governance decisions and outcomes.
  • Support internal audits and other reviews by acting as the key point of contact for Operations
  • Lead the creation of reporting and insight into compliance with governance models in order to support Operations and Interconnectors Leadership Teams decision making and risk analysis

 

What you'll need

 

  • Broad understanding of National Grid and its position within the Energy Industry including an intellectual curiosity and natural interest in business.  
  • Proven experience within a governance and/or controls role within the energy or infrastructure sector
  • Familiarity with governance tools and frameworks
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment. 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable working at pace.
  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent combination of education and experience with strong background in project/programme planning and delivery.

 

What you'll get

 

A competitive salary between £48,000 - £57,000 per annum– dependent on capability.

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
