National Grid is hiring an Geo-Spatial Data Assistant - This is based from Warwick with a hybrid working policy - x2 days a week in office.

Job Purpose

 

To assist in the ongoing integrity of the Geospatial Information System (GIS) to ensure the data and information is accurate and auditable. To assist in the development of the GIS application and to provide the plaƞorm from which National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) can optimise future designs, plan future work, and help deliver in the most efficient and productive way. To provide technical support to others to leverage value from Natonal Grid’s geospatial capabilities. 

What you'll do

 

  • Oversee NGET’s Geographic Information System (GIS) to ensure its integrity with the latest internal and external data.
  • Assist in establishing and documenting data management processes related to the GIS application, including how data is stored, accessed, and managed.
  • Define, implement, and assist in managing strategies, policies, procedures, and specifications for the production, retention, and management of technical data records, including both visual (imagery and mapping) and numeric data, to ensure compliance with relevant statutory obligations and business requirements.
  • Support NGET’s Great Grid Upgrade projects by providing access to necessary mapping and data resources.
  • Deliver geospatial analysis and support the business in obtaining required information.
  • Assist in analysing system data issues and defining and implementing corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support and best practices to users of the GIS application.

About you

 

Interpersonal, Supervisory, or Management:

 

  • Proven experience in building strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.

 

Technical or Specialist:

 

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of ArcGIS Pro or similar GIS applications.
  • Familiarity with Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) for data transformation and flow.
  • Understanding of Ordnance Survey products and their applications.
  • Proficient in data modelling techniques and data management practices.
  • Knowledge of data management and quality checking techniques.
  • Basic understanding of assets across NGET and how asset data can be leveraged within the business.

What you'll get

 

A competitive salary around £40,000 - £50,000 – dependent on capability
