This is a high-profile Finance Business Partner role within the Strategic Infrastructure (SI) division. Joining a team of Finance Business Partners, you’ll work hand in hand with Directors of National Grid’s Strategic Infrastructure business who are responsible for delivering the biggest upgrade to electricity infrastructure that the National Grid has seen in decades. National Grid Electricity Transmission will be delivering £35bn of network investment over the next 5 years, and this role covers a meaningful proportion of this investment. These projects will together enable 50 Gigawatts of offshore wind to deliver substantial decarbonisation of our energy system, whilst keeping bills down and increasing UK energy security. This portfolio presents an exciting opportunity to build innovative solutions and create new ways of working.
As we strive to find new and innovative ways to build our network and deliver for our customers, there is an increasing focus on how we track and govern initiatives, ensuring alignment with our evolving regulatory landscape. Finance plays a key role in building the infrastructure that enables capital optimisation, while ensuring performance management remains central to delivery.
This role is based out of our Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week, but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
What You’ll Do:
- Work with the SI Onshore project teams to provide independent review and challenge on key financial matters, including budget setting, forecasting and performance management. Attend Project Boards / Project Review Meetings as a subject matter expert.
- Lead on key initiatives within the FBP team as we look to embed in new processes and controls to improve our financial management as the investment levels increase.
Stakeholder management – liaise with other teams in NGET to effectively communicate matters relating to Strategic Infrastructure, including Investment Accountants, PMO, regulations, risk and controllership. - Independently solve problems and management priorities – the role of an FBP will vary month to month to adapt to competing priorities as they arise.
What You’ll Have:
- Fully Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with experience operating as a business partner.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and performance management experience.
- Experience working within a matrix team structure.
- Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insight.
- Strong commercial mindset with confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders to drive decision-making and action.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to operate credibly at senior levels.
- A focus on what matters most to the business, making sure time and effort is going into the areas that will have the biggest impact.

What You’ll Get:
Up to £77,000 dependant on experience.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance with an on target of 15% (maximum 30%) and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
