National Grid is hiring a Digital Product Owner. This role is designated as hybrid, with an expectation of one or two days per month in the Warwick, UK office. Requirements may vary based on business needs and company policy.
About the Role
To define implement and manage a product from conception to final delivery all the way through the product lifecycle. Responsible for achieving optimal results, conforming to standards for quality, safety and sustainability. To ensure compliance with the defined scope, performance, costs and schedule through agile delivery and ways of working.
What you'll Do
Product Ownership, Managing and developing products or services through their full life cycle from inception, growth, maturity, decline to retirement.
- Acts as product owner for one or more lower-value products or services.
- Prioritises product requirements, develops product roadmaps and owns the product backlog.
- Manages elements of the product life cycle to meet customer/user needs and achieve financial or other targets.
- Analyses market and/or user research, feedback, expert opinion and usage data to understand needs and opportunities.
- Facilitates uptake of products by developing content, supporting and evaluating campaigns, and monitoring product performance.
- Rolls out product trials and product launches.
Financial Management, Supporting the effective use and control of financial resources.
- Monitors and maintains financial records to agreed requirements for compliance and audit.
- Assists with identifying and calculating process, service, project and component costs for financial planning and budgeting.
- Collates required financial data and reports for analysis and to facilitate decision-making
Stakeholder and Relationship Management, Influencing stakeholder attitudes, decisions, and actions for mutual benefit.
• Deals with problems and issues, managing resolutions, corrective actions, lessons learned, and the collection and dissemination of relevant information.
• Implements stakeholder engagement/communications plan. Collects and uses feedback from customers and stakeholders to help measure the effectiveness of stakeholder management.
• Helps develop and enhance customer and stakeholder relationships.• Organisational Change Management, planning, designing and implementing activities to transition the organisation and people to the required future state.
• Conducts readiness assessments to assess the size, nature and impact of organisational change.
• Defines tactics to use considering the challenges to be addressed.
• Provides guidance and makes suggestions to support individuals responsible for operational implementation of change management activities.
• Gathers feedback to analyse the impact and effectiveness of the change management activities being deployed. Takes corrective action as required.
• Develops and communicates tailored change management plans.
• Establishes and builds relationships with the project sponsors and key stakeholders.
Requirement’s definition and Management Managing, requirements through the entire delivery and operational life cycle.
- Defines and manages scoping, requirements definition and prioritisation activities for initiatives of medium size and complexity.
- Contributes to selecting the requirements approach.
- Facilitates input from stakeholders, provides constructive challenge and enables effective prioritisation of requirements.
- Establishes requirements base-lines, obtains formal agreement to requirements, and ensures traceability to source.
Methods and tools, Ensuring methods and tools are adopted and used effectively throughout the organisation. (L3)
• Provides advice and guidance to support the adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards.
• Tailors processes in line with agreed standards and evaluation of methods and tools.
• Reviews and improves usage and application of methods and tools.
About You
- Can successfully operate at ‘D’ and Board level, forming strong relationships and engagement as needed across all levels of the Business Entity
- Has good leadership, relationship, communication, and presentation skills combined with a good track record of delivery.
- Experience of investment and product planning ensuring alignment with business strategy and priorities
- An excellent understanding of the business area within which they are operating
- A good understanding of current and emerging product methods, agile methodologies, and trends
- Experience of working within a large heavily matrixed organisation, with the ability to drive for results
- A good understanding of financial management, benefits management and realisation linked to business results
What You'll Get
