National Grid is hiring a Digital Product Owner- This position is based from our Warwick office however we offer flexible hybrid working options.
Job Purpose
Are you passionate about shaping the future of the electricity network and driving the UK’s journey to Net Zero? As our Digital Network Design Product Owner, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering innovative digital products that transform how we design, optimise, and manage the electricity transmission network for England and Wales.
As a member of the extended Product Management function, the PO is the team’s primary customer advocate and primary link to business and technology strategy. This enables the team to balance the needs of multiple stakeholders while continuously evolving the Solution.
You’ll be involved in everything from supporting existing customers to Manging the backlog and influencing the product roadmap.
This is a job for those with aspirations to become digital Product managers owning one or more digital products.
What You'll Do
Champion the Customer: Build strong, collaborative relationships with product users, deeply understanding their needs, pain points, and aspirations. Be their advocate in every decision.
Drive Product Value: Manage and prioritise the product backlog, ensuring the team delivers the highest-value features quickly and effectively.
Shape the Roadmap: Work closely with the Product Manager to define and influence the product vision and roadmap, balancing customer needs with business and technology strategy.
Craft User Stories: Create clear, actionable user stories and features, ensuring everyone understands what must be delivered and how to do it right.
Enable Whole-Product Solutions: Understand upstream and downstream processes to deliver solutions that address the full customer journey.
Measure Success: Track and analyse key product KPIs, using data to inform decisions and drive continuous improvement.
Support Adoption: Develop training materials, standard operating procedures, and support the rollout of new features and guidance.
Foster Agile Excellence: Participate actively in agile ceremonies, facilitate backlog refinement, and ensure stories meet the definition of done.
Balance Stakeholder Perspectives: Navigate input from customers, business owners, architects, and delivery teams to make informed, customer-centric decisions.
About You
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, actionable guidance for teams.
- Several years’ experience managing digital products, with a solid grasp of product management principles and agile frameworks (Kanban, Scrum; SAFe experience is a plus).
- Proven ability to prioritise requirements, develop product roadmaps, and manage backlogs in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in or with cross-functional teams, understanding the dynamics and roles involved.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Attention to detail, a quick learner, ownership mindset, and the confidence to ask questions and challenge assumptions.
What You'll Get
A competitive salary between £55,000 – £70,000 dependent on capability
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
