National Grid is hiring a Digital Product Manager - This position is based from our Warwick office however we offer flexible hybrid working options.
Job Purpose
Are you ready to shape the future of the electricity network and play a pivotal role in the journey to Net Zero? As our Digital Network Design Product Manager, you’ll lead the development and delivery of innovative digital products that will transform how we design, optimise, and manage the electricity transmission network for England and Wales.
You’ll be at the forefront of our Digital Twin Strategy, managing cross-functional product squads and overseeing the full lifecycle of bespoke, in-house digital solutions. Your work will directly enable the integration of new energy sources, support decarbonisation, and drive operational excellence across the business.
This is a high-impact role with significant autonomy, multi-million-pound investment, and the opportunity to deliver meaningful change at the heart of the energy transition.
What You'll Do
- Managing the funding and sanction processes to enable the teams to deliver the right content.
- Communicating and building strong, collaborative relationships with senior management. This is the biggest part of the role. You will influence attitudes, decisions and actions for mutual benefit and keep colleagues updated on digital progress.
- Driving and communicating a digital roadmap for your product line and implementing systems such as team structures and ways of working.
- Understanding the business needs, researching the market and either introducing or building market leading digital products.
- Ensuring adoption and value realisation of digital products through customer centric design and value analysis.
- Ensuring your team members build good relationships with relevant stakeholders. They must be professional, open, collaborative, and able to challenge others and be challenged themselves in an amicable, respectful way.
- Developing a well-balanced, cross-functional team by ensuring learning opportunities are identified and optimised, and people are given the support they need.
- Acting as the ultimate escalation point for issue resolution within your field.
- Planning and leading scoping and priority setting activities.
- Product Management, Managing and developing products or services through their full life cycle from inception, growth, maturity, decline to retirement.
- Financial Management, Supporting the effective use and control of financial resources.
- Stakeholder and Relationship Management, Influencing stakeholder attitudes, decisions, and actions for mutual benefit.
- Organisational Change Management, planning, designing, and implementing activities to transition the organisation and people to the required future state.
- Methods and tools, ensuring methods and tools are adopted and used effectively throughout the organisation.
About You
Influential and persuasive, you champion creativity and innovation. You are good at making decisions, even when you have incomplete information and time. You are a fast learner who is highly self-motivated and able to work without a lot of direction.
You have strong verbal and written communication skills, underpinned by the understanding that effective communication usually involves listening more than speaking. You are good at identifying what colleagues are actually asking for. Crucially, you know how to translate information about Digital & IT into language everyone can understand.
A good understanding of current and emerging product methods, agile methodologies, and trends. You have significant experience of delivering digital products in a fast-paced environment, and experience within an agile delivery environment.
Experience of working within a heavily matrixed organisation, with the ability to drive for results. Experience of strategic, investment and product planning ensuring alignment with business strategy and priorities, plus a good understanding of financial management, benefits management and realisation linked to business results.
Experience of managing and using products in the network design including modelling and visualisation tools is plus.
What You'll Get
A competitive salary between £63,000 – £78,000 dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus of up to 30% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
