National Grid is hiring a Data Product Manager.  This role is designated as hybrid, with an expectation of one or two days per month in the Warwick, UK office. Requirements may vary based on business needs and company policy.  

Job Purpose

To define implement and manage a data product from conception to final delivery all the way through the product lifecycle. Responsible for achieving optimal results, conforming to standards for quality, safety and sustainability. To ensure compliance with the defined scope, performance, cost, ROI and schedule through agile delivery and ways of working.

Key Accountabilities

  • Product Management, managing and developing products or services through their full life cycle from inception, growth, maturity, decline to retirement.
  • Data Management, developing and implementing plans, policies, and practices that control, protect and optimise the value of data assets.
  • Data Engineering, designing, building, operationalising, securing and monitoring data pipelines and data stores.
  • Data Visualisation, facilitating understanding of data by displaying concepts, ideas, and facts using graphical representations.
  • Business Intelligence, developing, producing and delivering regular and one-off management information to provide insights and aid decision-making.
  • Financial Management, Supporting the effective use and control of financial resources.
  • Stakeholder and Relationship Management, Influencing stakeholder attitudes, decisions, and actions for mutual benefit.
  • Organisational Change Management, planning, designing and implementing activities to transition the organisation and people to the required future state.
  • Benefits Management, forecasting, planning and monitoring the emergence and effective realisation of anticipated benefits from projects and programmes.
  • Requirement’s Definition and Management, managing, requirements through the entire delivery and operational life cycle.

Qualifications

  • Can successfully operate at a Board level, forming strong relationships and engagement as needed across all levels of the Business Entity
  • Has good leadership, relationship, communication, and presentation skills combined with a good track record of delivery.
  • Experience of strategic, investment and product planning ensuring alignment with business strategy and priorities
  • An excellent understanding of the business area within which they are operating
  • A good understanding of current and emerging product methods, agile methodologies, and trends
  • Experience of working within a heavily matrixed organisation, with the ability to drive for results
  • A good understanding of financial management, benefits management and realisation linked to business results
  • Degree-level qualification, preferably in an analytical or business-oriented discipline like data, information systems or industrial engineering, alternatively, an equivalent combination of education, training
