Job Purpose
An experienced and independent engineer who can be a technical lead on larger work. Senior Software Engineers will typically have between 4-10 years of experience. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be involved in the product development process from ideation to launch, working closely with software engineers, product managers, UI/UX designers, and key stakeholders across the organization to deliver the best digital experiences for our users. You will actively contribute to the success of the team by innovating, participating in technical discussions, and contributing to the development of products that will transform the organization.
Key Accountabilities
â?¢ Takes large problem with loose definition and scopes work.
â?¢ Guides team (or self) through completion of components/projects, expanding scope as necessary.
â?¢ Executes on large projects for the team and breaks work down for themselves and others. Able to integrate their work within and outside of the team, identifying edge cases and exception states.
â?¢ Expert in our key technology frameworks used on their team
â?¢ Able to own assembling architectural plans and artifacts for projects the team is taking on - aware of system architecture outside of the team scope.
â?¢ Seeks greater understanding of not just the problem and the solution, but motivating factors, surrounding technology, and expertise in related areas - expanding the scope of the problem space
â?¢ Recognized as an expert in the front end or back end language of the team, able to conceptually grasp 'the other end' that they don't work with directly - expanding the scope of the solution space
â?¢ Ensures team engineering is consistently accurate.
â?¢ Identifies trends (positive or negative) and quickly and appropriately escalates any issues.
â?¢ Understands our key technology frameworks used in their org, how they are used, and why they are used.
â?¢ Starts to explore our key technology frameworks used company-wide
â?¢ Actively works to unblock others, guided by their expertise. Works to unblock beyond just the technical solution.
â?¢ Owns their development plan end-to-end by proactively seeking feedback and taking steps to improve on opportunity areas.
â?¢ Owns initiatives that help to increase efficiency, drive revenue, improve customer experience, and/or reduce costs on a meaningful scale for the business.
â?¢ Creatively questions team's work and proactively suggests new processes or ideas.
â?¢ A driver of the team tech roadmap - a participant in the prioritization and planning of this work.
Qualifications
â?¢ Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
â?¢ Typically 5 - 7 years of experience in position. Bachelors degree may be required
â?¢ Has sufficient knowledge to independently interpret and follow procedures associated with specific transactions and practices in one broad work process. Actively seeks professional growth. Conducts own work within a defined area of responsibility. Develops knowledge in at least one other process.
â?¢ Independently determines / develops approach to solutions.
â?¢ Demonstrates willingness to research inquiries and follow-up to ensure completion. Can explain complex information clearly to supervisors or subordinates. Maintains a relationship with counterparts within and external to the industry to obtain and share information. Individual success depends on effective communication.
