National Grid is hiring an Industrial Controls Cyber Assurance Engineer - This role can be based in either our Warwick, Leeds, Bristol or London offices. Frequent travel is required to our supplier sites, currently these are: Rugby, Milton Keynes, Leeds, Stafford, Newcastle, Aberdeen.
Job Purpose
Join National Grid Electricity Transmission’s Cyber Design Assurance Team. Responsible for ensuring high quality implementation of Cyber Security measures across our Operational Technology (OT) systems, nationwide. You will contribute to improvements that keep our assets secure and resilient, ensuring we meet our obligations under the Network Information Systems Regulations and the (future) Cyber Security Resilience Bill. Helping to keep the lights on, now and into the future.
What you'll do
- Lead on the Assurance process for Cyber Security works on existing and newbuild sites.
- Contribute technical expertise during option selection and tendering processes.
- Work as part of the design process to review and accept supplier designs, ensuring they comply with National Grid's strict technical standards.
- In-person attendance and acceptance of Factory Acceptance Testing for OT Cyber Projects.
- You will gain internal authorisations for Design Assurance Engineer and Commissioning Officer with respect to OT Cyber Projects.
- Support continuous improvement of National Grids procedures and specifications.
About you
- Degree educated in Electrical / Electronics, Telecommunications, Instrumentation, Automation or similar. Or significant industry experience in a similar area.
- Significant experience of design / installation / assurance on industrial control systems within the energy industry or outside of it.
- Understanding of network topologies and communication protocols.
- Experience of creating / utilising / assuring engineering schematics and diagrams.
- A working knowledge of applying safety rules in an industrial environment such as lockout-tagout process or similar.
- Understanding of Stage 1 / Pre-Commissioning / Cold Commissioning process and Stage 2 / Live Commissioning / Hot Commissioning processes in a high-risk industrial environment
- Appreciation of the Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF) and Network and Information Systems Regulations (NIS) requirements, along with their impact on the OT environment.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage with multi-disciplined teams and audiences.
Desirable
- IEC62443 Accreditation
- Knowledge of IEC61850 and Power System Protocols
- Awareness of CDM Regs
- Experience of working with Electricity Substation Control Systems
