As Commissioning Specialist, you will proactively deliver compliant Commissioning Switching Programmes (CSPs) for Control Room implementation. You will be the subject matter expert for the Commissioning team, supervising the training and development of 4x commissioning leads and aiding with complex CSPs. You’ll manage and co-ordinate all internal and external parties to ensure a safe, network secure commissioning strategy and sequence, on time and without adversely impacting other planned outputs.
You’ll lead the operational technical comment on CSPs, approve the switching strategy and sequence on behalf of the control room, and resolve any issues relating to delivery of CSPs in the control room. You’ll be responsible for system security, safety and that customer supplies are maintained at all times. In addition, you’ll be accountable for the production and distribution of operational documents required for operation in the control room and submission to the Electricity System Operator.
You’ll be based in Warwick for 2 days per week and you’ll combine this with hybrid working from home. You’ll be required to have up to date Control Room experience to ensure you maintain competence and authorisation and the flexibility to cover in the Control Room on an adhoc basic.
What you'll need
With previous experience of working with commissioning or switching plans, we’re looking for someone who has Control Engineer, Distribution Network Operator (DNO) control room, or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) authorisation, coupled with an excellent understanding of transmission network operation and basic analysis techniques.
You’ll have a minimum of HNC in an engineering or STEM related subject, or equivalent experience. You’ll also need an understanding of the transmission system safety issues and all relevant Procedures. Supervisory or mentoring experience would be advantageous.
With the ability to work under pressure, remaining calm and focused on the task at hand, you’ll have good logical, analytic thinking and problem-solving skills. In addition, you’ll have good written and verbal communication with decision making skills and the ability to work within tight timescales and make accurate assessments of multiple interdependent operational activities.
