National Grid is hiring a Change Lead. This hybrid role can sit in either our Warwick or Strand location. 

Job Purpose

As a Change Lead, you will play a pivotal role in enabling the successful delivery of transformational outcomes for an assigned programme by leading change management activities.

 

  • You’ll bring deep change expertise and apply a range of best practice approaches to guide teams through complex change journeys—ensuring change is not only delivered but embedded and sustained across the organisation.
  • You’ll be at the heart of a dynamic, customer-focused and high-performing Transformation Office, working on a key transformation programme to deliver high-impact outcomes. With people at the centre of everything you’ll do, you’ll collaborate closely with Programme Sponsors, Business Leads, Subject Matter Experts and the Enterprise Change team to ensure change is delivered with precision, pace and purpose — always with empathy, engagement and impact.
  • Using consistent, proven methods and tools aligned to Group BMS standards, you’ll champion efficiency, quality and innovation in change delivery across the UK. Your work will play a pivotal role in driving a measurable step change in the realisation of National Grid’s transformation outcomes — enhancing return on investment and accelerating the journey towards delivery excellence.

Key Accountabilities

  • Accountable to ET and TO for the delivery of agreed change outcomes, working to a key assigned transformation programme within the ET business, as part of the Transformation Delivery Team.
  • Responsible for the quality and consistency of change delivery, ensuring outputs meet agreed standards and contribute to successful programme and project outcomes.
  • Leads the application of change management tools, methods and frameworks, ensuring alignment with BMS standards and tailoring approaches to suit programme needs.
  • Drives stakeholder engagement and adoption strategies, ensuring change is understood, embraced and sustained across impacted teams.
  • Supports benefits realisation planning and tracking, ensuring that change outcomes are measurable and aligned to strategic objectives.
  • Actively contributes to building internal capability in programme, project, change, continuous improvement through coaching, mentoring, and sharing best practice.
  • Champions innovation and continuous improvement in change delivery, regularly refreshing tools, frameworks and methods in line with emerging trends and organisational needs.
  • Deliberately fosters a high-performing, collaborative culture within the ET Transformation Office, promoting psychological safety, inclusion and accountability.
  • Manages relationships with programme managers and programme team ensuring services are delivered to agreed standards and expectations.
  • Owns personal development and career progression, maintaining an individual development plan and actively seeking opportunities to grow change leadership capability.

Qualifications

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with a proven ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders across all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience working in high-performing, agile and geographically dispersed teams, often contributing to multiple unrelated projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential, with a track record of successfully delivering change within complex programmes and initiatives.
  • Detail-oriented and quality-driven, consistently producing high-standard outputs and applying structured thinking to change challenges.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, able to tailor communication styles to suit audiences ranging from trainees to senior executives.
  • Trusted to handle sensitive workforce information, demonstrating discretion, integrity and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Experienced in influencing decision-making, working collaboratively with business stakeholders to shape and guide change delivery strategies.
  • Strong understanding of change delivery methodologies and frameworks, including Agile, Prosci, and other industry-recognised approaches.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word, to support analysis, reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Familiarity with agile change management concepts, with practical experience applying iterative and adaptive approaches to change delivery.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to craft compelling business reports, deliver impactful presentations, and influence stakeholders at all levels across National Grid.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complexity, demonstrating self-drive, resilience and the ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with programme goals.
  • Experience in managing change and improvement projects – including portfolio, program, and project management, as well as change management, continuous improvement, and designing and implementing operating models
  • Degree level qualification or comparable industry experience
  • Qualifications from: PRINCE2, MSP, APM, PMI, CIPD, LCS 2A or equivalent desired but not a must

More Information

A competitive starting salary between £48,473 - £57,012.00 dependent on capability.

 

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
