National Grid is hiring a Senior Project Manager (Electricity), Capital Project Delivery for Massachusetts. This is a Onsite Role - Must live within a commutable distance to Waltham, MA.
Job Purpose
The New England Electric Major Projects team drives project management for major electric capital construction project investments, leading the clean energy transformation and significant portfolio growth. Projects include multi-year complex, large-scale Transmission-Line projects. The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing the execution of major electric capital construction projects, ensuring safe and efficient delivery within budget, schedule, and scope, while coordinating with stakeholders and supporting strategic project objectives.
This role offers the opportunity to mentor Associate Project Managers and grow into more senior leadership roles based on performance and experience.
Key Accountabilities
• Ensure compliance with the Capital Delivery process by overseeing the development and finalization of MSA (Master Service Agreement) and construction contracts. This includes managing preliminary engineering, baseline schedule, detailed cost estimate, risk profile, and resource strategy.
• Manage siting, permitting, regulatory approvals including cost recovery mechanisms, and customer/community commitments.
• Manage project finances and schedules, ensuring adherence to budgetary constraints and timelines. Identify and address any deviations promptly, taking proactive measures to mitigate risks and optimize project efficiency.
• Manage and co-ordinate Contractors and project teams to successfully deliver projects to time, cost and specification and with minimal disruption.
• Monitor contractor site activities to ensure compliance with National Grid SHES standards, Health & Safety requirements, Environmental legislation and OSHA regulations
• Comply with internal business management system (BMS) for major projects.
• Collaborate closely with customers to understand their requirements, expectations, and feedback. Foster positive relationships, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
• Facilitate the permitting process by liaising with relevant authorities, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations and requirements. Proactively address any permitting challenges or delays to minimize project disruptions.
• Develop and maintain effective communication channels with stakeholders, including regular reporting on project progress, risks, and milestones. Foster transparency and engagement, addressing stakeholder inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
• Monitor and control the investment throughout the process providing regular project monthly status reports including: SHE performance, milestone progress, risk management and competent, accurate and timely financial forecasting information to support regulatory reporting including cost recover, and business and capital planning.
• Provide emergency storm restoration support during weather events.
Qualifications
• Demonstrate exceptional personal initiative, integrity, and effective interpersonal skills while fostering positive and collaborative relationships with company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials.
• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is strongly preferred. However, candidates with degrees in other relevant fields, coupled with significant experience in project management, engineering, construction, and operations, will also be considered.
• 3-5 years of experience in engineering, project management, utility construction, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Microsoft Office, Power BI, SharePoint, Power Point, Excel, Word and MS Teams experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
