National Grid is hiring a Manager of Trade Partnerships and C&I Sales in Massachusetts
This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to Waltham or Worcester, MA
Job Purpose
We are seeking a Manager of Trade Partnerships and C&I Sales to contribute to our customer sales & solutions leadership team. This role will lead a team that works with our commercial & industrial customers and trade partners in Massachusetts to improve their energy efficiency, sustainability, and decarbonization efforts.
Key Accountabilities
Your primary responsibility will be to successfully manage and lead a team of inside sales, lead intake and trade partner staff. Specific responsibilities include the following:
- Manage and mentor the inside sales, lead intake team and trade partner members.
- Set and track sales targets for your team and its members.
- Manage lead qualification, tracking, and distribution process.
- Effectively use technology, including Salesforce, call tracking and contact management software, Microsoft Office and telephone technologies, to perform job functions
- Report on sales metrics and suggest improvements.
- Participate in sales, product and process training as required.
- Build and nurture cross-functional relationships with related teams such as field sales, sales operations, tech support and marketing.
- Manage partner management organization to achieve sales goals.
- Co-owner of National Grid three-year plan sales goals to achieve reduction in greenhouse gases (GHG) through broad commercial/industrial electrification.
- Identify new channels, product offerings and messaging, based on interaction with the channel, which can speed electrification adoption.
- Ensure the development of relationships with leading heat pump manufacturers and distributors.
- Be the voice of National Grid to the channel, speaking at channel trade events to tell the National Grid electrification story.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by training, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Monitor program performance, participation, trends and insights from team members, vendors, and stakeholders to determine program drivers and barriers. Collaborate with internal and external partners to review adjust program delivery practices to ensure best-in-class programs as needed.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members and periodic meetings with team.
- Provide all team members with training, coaching and mentoring opportunities as required.
- Participate in the hiring process and on-boarding of new hires.
- Ensure that all the team members have timely and regular performance reviews, objectives and career development plans.
Qualifications
We are looking for an experienced candidate who possesses the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree or certificate in business or a technical field is highly desirable.
- Demonstrable experience successfully working as a team or program manager.
- Understanding of effective B2B sales strategies and how to teach them to others
- Research and reporting skills to analyze sales and customer data to monitor and manage team performance.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for effective verbal and written communications with customers, sales leadership, sales team members and trade partners
- A proven record of applying leadership & management skills to build, manage and mentor a high performing team.
- Excellent process design and implementation skills to optimize team productivity.
- Firsthand experience with CRM software and familiarity with a variety of sales tools and software.
- Understanding of and interest in the energy business especially as it relates to the use and optimization of energy by commercial and industrial buildings.
- A minimum of 5 years of B2B sales, inside sales, and/or sales management experience with management/leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Broad knowledge of and experience in matters of energy policy, regulation, stakeholder engagement, customer experience, and energy efficiency.
- Familiarity with HVAC technology and/or work experience from an HVAC contractor, distributor, or manufacturer a plus.
- A track record of achieving and surpassing sales goals and partner and customer satisfaction targets.
- Demonstrated success and experience in managing multiple stakeholder and partner relationships and ability to build an independent opinion of needs, problems, and/or opportunities and design effective solutions.
- Demonstrable commitment to, and interest in, building a more robust market for sustainability.
- Travel may be required as some of the team members will be field based. Mileage reimbursement or participation in Motus reimbursement program is offered.
- Valid driver’s license required.

Salary
$139,000 - $164,000 a year
Salary commensurate with location and experience
