National Grid is hiring a Manager (Project Management), Capital Project Delivery  for Massachusetts. This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to one of our locations

Job Purpose

Lead and motivate the Project Management NE Team, responsible for delivering multi-million dollar electric capital projects. Ensure that each project is developed with affordability and fit for purpose in mind, aligning with the evolving demands of the energy sector. Our team specializes in electric transmission projects and operates cross-functionally, engaging with leadership across multiple lines of business to drive success.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Oversee overall project performance for the team, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and safety standards.
  • Manage jurisdictional electrical capital budgets, leveraging detailed knowledge of team’s individual project cost and schedule to assist in balancing budget objectives between all stakeholder portfolios at Project Control Meetings and during forecasting cycle.
  • Ensure consistent reporting cadence across baseline variances, forecasts, schedules and stakeholder information requests.
  • Maintain compliance as required and with approved delegation of authority (DoA) limits.
  • Champion capital efficiency initiatives, leading cost reduction efforts with the team.
  • Support resolution of complex project challenges and escalate high-risk issues through appropriate channels when necessary.
  • Engage collaboratively with stakeholders including company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and municipal officials to build productive relationships.
  • Recruit, develop, and inspire both internal and external team members to drive innovation, accountability, and long-term performance.
  • Promote a culture of safety, inclusion, and high performance to enhance employee engagement and team effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership support during storm restoration and emergency response, ensuring you and your team members are prepared to execute roles assigned.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree is required in a relevant discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in electric utility project management, engineering, construction, or equivalent applicable experience.
  • Master’s degree in technical field, MBA, or relevant equivalent preferred.
  • Certified Project Management Professional and/or Professional Engineering license preferred.
  • Experience managing teams with focus on safety, cost control, risk management, work quality, and efficiency preferred.
  • Extensive experience of electric system design and construction practices with a strong working knowledge of engineering, environmental, legal, procurement, accounting, and related disciplines.
  • Senior stakeholder management, influence, and engagement.
  • Ability to create a high energy team climate whereby team members can discuss relevant issues freely and where there is a strong emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with proven ability to inspire teams, and gain support and commitment from a wider group.
  • Familiarity with relevant materials, tools, and systems (i.e Microsoft Office, ProCore, etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Salary - $169,000 - $199,000
