Lead Contract Manager

The Role
The Lead Contract Manager supports the gas construction business in interpretation of contracts, understanding of business requirements, best outcomes in change order and claim resolution, contractor compliance, support for highest level of safety and performance by the contractors while maximizing value throughout.
What You'll Do
- Review existing contracts to determine adherence, established protocols and check for deviations. Design, develop, and implement EPC contractor performance process, KPIs, and Metrics.
- Advise on strategy and execute EPC Contract Management Processes. Support pre-award activities, providing expertise throughout the pre-bid and bid phases. Provide EPC expertise to a team of contracted Cost Managers assigned to EPC projects.
- Advise on contract-related disputes and develop and manage processes to continuously improve the dispute management function. Manage escalations from the contract team through resolution, including arbitration and/or litigation.
- Develop and maintain a relationship with all internal and external stakeholders, prepare and deliver presentations to leadership.
- Travel to meetings that may require day visits to National Grid yards and job sites in local area. Business overnight travel may include trips to other regions outside of “home base” region, such as Albany, Brooklyn and Long Island. Expected overnight travel should be < 10% of the time.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Master’s level in engineering and/or a business or legal discipline preferred.
- 7+ years’ experience successful management of contracts, change, and involvement in strategic planning and budgetary monitoring and control preferred
- 5+ years of directly applicable construction contracting experience required
- Proven experience in developing, interpreting and negotiating contract terms, and managing contractors to the terms required
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Demonstrated competency in conflict resolution, negotiations and reporting
- Experience with EPC (Engineer, Procure, Construct) contract design, negotiation, implementation and close out preferred
- Valid driver’s license required

Salary
$142,000 - $166,000 a year
