Job Purpose
This role supports the New England Business Unit’s digitally enabled, decarbonized electric network transformation by contributing to strategic plans and roadmaps, helping to set the right priorities, driving effective execution of needed initiatives, supporting the development of new capabilities, identifying needed regulatory/policy enablers, and aligning decarbonization and other outcomes to Company and state/federal goals. The remit also includes contributing to and sometimes managing strategic initiatives and special projects, collaborating with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
The New England electric business is accountable for overall execution of the electric network transformation. This transformation comprises multiple workstreams, which each have executive sponsors and cross-functional teams mobilized to execute. This Lead Analyst will partner with those teams to drive progress on several workstreams at once.
This role is responsible for balancing the interests of multiple groups and success will require effective facilitation and coordination skills as well as the ability to challenge established thinking and lead discussions among internal stakeholders. Your voice will be an important one in these debates and your ability to influence and take stakeholders with you will be crucial to your success.
Key Accountabilities
- Strategic Planning: Assist in coordination of a cross-functional team to develop a multi-year roadmap for a specific workstream(s) with clear priorities, initiatives, and outcomes. Examples of some of these workstreams include: holistic planning, capital project delivery, connecting our customers, reliability and resilience, and distribution system operator strategy.
- Transformation Program Management: Provide program management support to the executive sponsors of one or more electric transformation workstreams. This includes: governance, performance management, risk management, testing and challenging initiative progress, and coaching of and problem-solving with initiative owners.
- Special Projects and Internal Consulting: Contribute to cross-functional teams on complex special projects (e.g., novel regulatory filings, pilot/demo projects) ensuring successful delivery within scope, budget, and timeline and provide capacity and capability where needed to coach, problem-solve, or otherwise advance transformation initiatives.
- Innovation and Technology: Identify innovation priorities related to one or more electric network transformation workstreams and engage externally with peer utilities, industry trade groups, academics, and other stakeholders to learn best practices and other insights to inform the Company’s transformation plan.

- Strong inter-personal, relationship-building, and collaboration skills
- Demonstrated experience conducting internal stakeholder engagement
- Experience in participating in and leading ad hoc, cross-functional teams.
- Experience in successfully organizing and leading teams through ambiguity to deliver high performance and make lasting change in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to clearly articulate complex strategic messages
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master's or advanced degree preferred
- 3+ years of relevant work experience
- Broad understanding of the energy sector and issues affecting the electric utility industry specifically (policy/regulatory, market, technology)
- Demonstrated expertise on decarbonization pathways, clean energy policies, opportunities for network optimization driving affordability, electric network planning and operations, beneficial electrification, and/or innovative regulatory frameworks
- Experience in strategy development, strategy execution, and/or program/project management in large and complex corporate environments
- Strong oral and written communication/presentation skills and ability to convey complex strategic ideas to a wide range of audiences
- Analytical background/technical acumen with ability to gather & analyze data, including financial modeling
- Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver Policy.

Salary
$139,000 - $164,000 a year
