Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you’ll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.
About the Position
Are you ready to dive into the world of business contracts and help keep our projects on track? As an Associate Specialist in Business Contracts, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the effective delivery of National Grid Electric’s annual capital construction workplan. You’ll manage contract compliance, authorize construction, monitor performance, and assist with data analysis. If you have strong organizational and communication skills, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
This is a hybrid role based in Waltham, MA.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll become the go-to expert on the contracts we hold with vendors and be the key contact for both internal and external stakeholders. Here’s what you’ll be up to:
- Contract Analysis: Analyze, interpret, and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with all agreements.
- Contract Review: Review contracts and specifications for updates, making sure everything is up to date.
- Data Analysis: Assist in analyzing data to ensure the annual electric capital construction workplan is delivered effectively by contracted resources.
- Issue Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot issues, address concerns, and present your findings to internal and external stakeholders.
- Specification Support: Support the development and review of construction specifications to ensure they meet our standards.
- KPI Development: Develop, refine, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track success.
- Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with external contractors and internal teams, including Construction, Project/Program Management, Procurement, Engineering, Safety, and Emergency Planning.
- Rotation Opportunities: Start as an Associate Specialist and have the chance to rotate and support any of the Contracts & Commercial functional teams.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Business, Legal Studies or Pre-Law, Project Management, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Graduated between May 2025 and June 2026
- Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 8, 2026, or July 13, 2026
- Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy
- Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

Salary Range
Waltham, MA $66,000 - $78,000 a year
You must reside within our existing footprint, which includes contiguous states (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont). Our hybrid working approach applies to all colleagues who have a role which has the flexibility to be done hybrid across the National Grid group. Operational requirements mean that not all roles are suitable for hybrid working. Managers are responsible for determining whether a role is conducive to hybrid working. A hybrid worker should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to their assigned primary office.
