National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we’ll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one – putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

 

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you’ll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

Procurement Rotations

Graduates in our Procurement teams will take part in a rotational exploration opportunity. Your first year will be in the role outlined below, following your first year you will have the opportunity to have one 9-month rotation in Procurement designed to provide you with a breadth of experience within your functional area and accelerate your progression at National Grid. This placement will provide you with the opportunity to solve complex problems and focus on growth that will transform the energy sector as we know it. 

About the Position

As an Associate Analyst, you'll be supporting the US, UK, and Global Procurement functions in the delivery of our ambition to enable a clean, fair, and affordable energy future through commercial, responsible, and innovative supply chain leadership. You'll contribute to and lead a series of projects and initiatives which could be specific to one or cut across functions. You'll get the opportunity to collate, organize, and analyze data and help bring insights to the greater team.

 

You'll have to be proactive with a positive attitude and a desire to learn and solve problems. You will assist the Procurement Strategy team in various areas like: Planning & Performance, Risk & Compliance, Digital, Data Analytics and Process, Learning & Development, Branding, Communications and Engagement. You’ll be part of a fun and dynamic team and receive a behind-the-scenes view into how our Procurement team partners with stakeholders and the supply chain to deliver value for National Grid.

 

This is a hybrid role with 1 day per week in the Waltham, Massachusetts office.

What You'll Do

  • Data Dive: Analyze procurement systems, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and drive cost savings.
  • Spend Analysis: Review and analyze spend data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Use data visualization and storytelling to communicate your ideas effectively.
  • Compliance Learning: Understand our global regulators and their requirements while participating in compliance reporting activities.
  • Benefits Tracking: Support the implementation and refinement of our Global Planning System to learn how benefits are tracked and reported.
  • Safety Culture: Get to know our Safety, Health, and Wellbeing culture by helping refine safety and business continuity plans.
  • Sustainability Efforts: Work with our supply chain to drive environmental sustainability, track key metrics related to carbon disclosure, and support communication with stakeholders.
  • Responsible Business: Learn about our Responsible Business commitments and how we partner with suppliers to build a sustainable supply chain that meets net-zero and other business objectives.
  • Digital Roadmap: Support the delivery of our digital roadmap including learning how we use AI for Procurement.
  • Brand Development: Participate in brand development and communication activities to ensure key messages reach internal and external stakeholders.
  • Training Sessions: Help plan, prepare, and deliver training sessions, learning how to create tailored learning plans for employees and provide coaching and feedback for their growth.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelors or Master's degree from an accredited institution preferably in supply chain, business or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and present actionable insights
  • Graduated between May 2025 and June 2026   
  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 8, 2026, or July 13, 2026
  • Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy
  • Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

Salary Range
Waltham, MA $66,000 - $78,000 a year

 

You must reside within our existing footprint, which includes contiguous states (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont). Our hybrid working approach applies to all colleagues who have a role which has the flexibility to be done hybrid across the National Grid group. Operational requirements mean that not all roles are suitable for hybrid working. Managers are responsible for determining whether a role is conducive to hybrid working. A hybrid worker should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to their assigned primary office.
