National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we’ll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one – putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands. 

 

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you’ll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

Are you ready to make a real impact? As an Associate Analyst, you’ll join a high-performing team dedicated to ensuring that National Grid makes sound financial decisions. Whether you’re modeling business scenarios or tracking performance metrics, your work will be crucial for our leaders as they make strategic company decisions. You’ll tackle multiple projects and find creative solutions to big-picture challenges through detailed analysis, strategic thinking, and collaboration across teams.

 

This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days of work in the Waltham, Massachusetts office per week (flexible depending on meetings, training, etc.).

What You’ll Do

You’ll accelerate your learning and gain insights into how to influence a business from a financial perspective. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of strategic business decisions that will help transform the energy industry! Here’s what you’ll be up to:

 

  • Support Decision-Making: Help department leaders and key stakeholders make sound financial and operational decisions through effective reporting, comprehensive analyses, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, while clearly communicating key takeaways.
  • Collaborate & Model: Work with cross-functional teams to develop financial models and evaluate the financial impact of various initiatives, projects, and operational changes.
  • Build Relationships: Develop strong, collaborative working relationships across teams, functions, and levels to drive accountability and support decision-making.
  • Solve Problems: Use your analytical skills, judgment, attention to detail, and creativity to effectively tackle challenges.
  • Present Insights: Present monthly results in a way that resonates with both finance and non-finance audiences, delivering insights and highlighting priority areas of focus to optimize efficiencies for the long term.
  • Identify Risks & Opportunities: Spot risks and opportunities to support stakeholders in developing effective mitigation plans.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree from an accredited institution preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Graduated between May 2025 and June 2026   
  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 8, 2026, or July 13, 2026
  • Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills (Examples: VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables/Charts)
  • Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

Salary Range
Waltham, MA $67,000 - $79,000 a year


You must reside within our existing footprint, which includes contiguous states (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont). Our hybrid working approach applies to all colleagues who have a role which has the flexibility to be done hybrid across the National Grid group. Operational requirements mean that not all roles are suitable for hybrid working. Managers are responsible for determining whether a role is conducive to hybrid working. A hybrid worker should also reside within a reasonable, commutable distance to their assigned primary office.
