National Grid is hiring an Enterprise Integration Director. This is a hybrid opportunity open to our offices in Brooklyn, NY, Syracuse, NY or Waltham, MA.
Job Purpose
We are seeking an Enterprise Integration Director to join our Chief Data Office team. This crucial leadership role will optimize data integrations across major programmes, evolve National Grid’s enterprise view of data and our strategic approach to integrating data across major platforms, and reduce complexity in our approach.
- Collaborate with architects and engineers to ensure integration capabilities evolve over time
- Strategic management of data integrations at National Grid. The successful candidate will govern and approve data integration architecture. They will need to have experience with a variety of design patterns and understand the pros and cons of selecting a pattern for a given use case or set of requirements.
- Continually improve key elements of integration design and delivery:
a. Integration reference architecture
b. Integration patterns & best practices
c. Integration architecture design templates
d. Roadmap to improve integration services overtime - Ensure integration delivery proceeds according to integration design. This includes leading a governance forum
This work will reduce the time and cost of technology transformation programmes by optimising integrations across National Grid.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing data and application integrations within a large enterprise, of promoting good governance through data contracts or a similar approach, and of leading cross-functional initiatives to realise value through unlocking data.
Key Accountabilities
- Evolve National Grid’s integration reference architecture and design templates
- Lead, develop and ultimately deploy the approach for integration management and governance across enterprise programmes
- Work with integration platform owners to develop a scalable platform that meets the evolving needs of National Grid
- Develop and implement a strategy to swiftly identify critical data elements using conceptual models and data designs provided by project teams
- Identify and monitor data interdependencies across enterprise platforms to optimise and reduce complexity
- Collaborate to develop, refine and ultimately approve integration designs for major programmes, ensuring that specific initiatives follow best practice
- Implement a comprehensive integration catalogue, detailing the integrations/APIs available across major programmes and documenting flows, lineage and dependencies
- Ensure that delivery proceeds according to agreed designs and support project teams by acting as a point of escalation and guidance in the event of issues
- Chair the governance forum to manage cross-program data integrations and foster cooperation and coordination across projects
Qualifications
This role is as much about collaboration and communication as it is about technology – it will require working across multiple project and stakeholders to achieve the best outcome for National Grid, ultimately ensuring data integrations are delivered in the optimal way for programme success. It will require substantial experience of integration architecture and of data governance across large, complex programs.
Above all you’ll be a leader in the data space – adept at managing conflicting needs and multiple points of view to gain the best possible outcome for the organisation, and further the value gained from data.
You will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience gained in industry
- 8+ years’ experience in enterprise data, with exposure to data architecture, data governance, data modelling and systems integration
- An ability to foster collaboration across programmes
- Knowledge and experience of data integration approaches, API management, batch ingestion, streaming
- Knowledge of architectural practices and how they relate to integration design
- Experience in a leadership role in data governance or data management, with a focus on leading and executing major data programmes with substantial integrations
- Familiarity with data catalogs, data contracts and metadata management
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Leveraging high emotional intelligence and decision-making frameworks, a demonstrated ability to make complex design decisions with a diverse set of stakeholders who may have competing objectives
- Experience in an asset-heavy industry such as utilities, energy or manufacturing is preferred

Brooklyn: $206K - $242K a year
Waltham: $192K - $226K a year
Syracuse: $171K - $201K a year
