Data Culture Specialist
About us
At National Grid, we keep people connected and society moving. But it’s so much more than that. National Grid provides the environment to make it happen. As we build momentum in the energy transition for all, we don’t plan on leaving any of our customers in the dark. So, join us as a Data Culture Specialist, and find your superpower.
National Grid is hiring a Data Culture Specialist to join our Technology team, based in Waltham, Massachusetts, United States, with hybrid working- 1 day per week.
You’ll play a key role in shaping and embedding a strong data‑driven culture across the organisation, enabling teams to make informed decisions and maximise the value of data to support critical operations across our enterprise.
About The Role
With more than 33,000 colleagues across National Grid, data has the power to transform how we work, how we make decisions, and how we deliver for our customers. Building a strong, inclusive, and values‑driven data culture is critical to unlocking that potential — and that’s where this role comes in.
As a Data Culture Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving meaningful change. You’ll champion positive data habits and best practices across the organisation, helping colleagues feel confident, empowered, and excited to use data in their everyday work.
Reporting to the Data Culture Lead, you’ll collaborate with teams across the business to embed data‑driven decision‑making into the way we think, work, and deliver — making data a natural and impactful part of how National Grid operates now and in the future.

- Design and deliver engaging campaigns, newsletters, and communications that translate technical topics into clear, relatable messages
- Support and manage data communities, enabling grassroots advocacy through thoughtful planning, communications, and content
Enable Change and New Ways of Working

- Coordinate inputs for programme evaluations to ensure behavioural impact is clearly captured and communicated
About You
- Proven experience leading colleague communications and engagement initiatives that drive adoption and behaviour change — not just information sharing
- A strong background working in digital, technology, data, or AI‑enabled environments, with confidence operating alongside technical and subject‑matter specialists
- Deep experience translating complex technical and data concepts into clear, compelling narratives for diverse, non‑technical audiences
- Strong creative skills, with experience producing videos, visuals, presentations, and storytelling assets that bring messages to life
- Experience designing and delivering end‑to‑end communications strategies and campaigns, from insight and planning through to delivery, measurement, and continuous improvement
- Excellent organisation and coordination skills, able to juggle multiple activities, stakeholders, and deadlines effectively
- Clear, confident written communication, with a talent for simplifying complexity without losing meaning
- A genuine interest in data, digital, and AI, and curiosity about how these can transform decision‑making and ways of working
