National Grid is hiring a Lead Process Manager (Process and Performance Improvement), Continuous Improvement, This is a Hybrid Role - Must live within a commutable distance to our Waltham, MA locations

Job Purpose

The Lead Business Strategist (Strategist) acts as both an ambassador and project manager for electric operations. The control center relies on several essential applications—Arcos, AVLS, iTOA, Mobile Outage Dispatch (MOD), Outage Management Reporting (PORT), and Interruption Database (IDS)—all of which are critical for safety, compliance, and regulatory reporting. These applications are subject to ongoing digital transformation and continuous enhancements. Additionally, the implementation of Early Fault Detection technology represents an innovative advancement that will reduce outage response times and improve the overall customer experience.

The Strategist leverages expertise in process improvement, domain knowledge, and project management, with a strong emphasis on meeting customer expectations within an agile environment. This role also involves close coordination with other grid modernization initiatives and operational teams to ensure that business change plans are established, project dependencies are effectively managed, and organizational objectives are achieved.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as ambassador and project manager for electric operations, representing control center interests.
  • Oversee and drive adoption, digital transformation, and ongoing enhancement of essential control center applications (Arcos, AVLS, iTOA, MOD, PORT, IDS).
  • Lead implementation of innovative technologies such as Early Fault Detection to improve outage response and customer experience.
  • Leverage process improvement expertise and domain knowledge to optimize operations and meet customer expectations in an agile environment.
  • Coordinate closely with grid modernization initiatives and operational teams to ensure business change plans are established and project dependencies are managed.
  • Act as an internal consultant, integrating various organizational goals and developing sustainable business solutions.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships and facilitate effective communication across teams and initiatives.
  • Apply project/program leadership skills to ensure organizational objectives and regulatory requirements are achieved.
  • Utilize understanding of portfolio management, Scaled Agile Framework, and tools such as JIRA to support project management activities.
  • Prepare concise, strategic storytelling materials using Microsoft tools

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM degree; MBA or similar is beneficial
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in the electric power industry or direct experience with electric operations
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a project or program leadership
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Have a strategic mindset that integrates various organizational goals, acts as an internal consultant to develop sustainable business solutions
  • Understanding of Portfolio Management, Scaled Agile Framework and JIRA tools or similar experience in project management
  • Understanding of utility accounting and regulatory framework
  • Proficient in Microsoft tools (Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI, Project, Whiteboard, etc.)
  • Experience with products listed and ESRI platform is a plus.

Salary
$128,000 - $151,000 a year 

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
