National Grid is hiring a Principal Project Manager (Electricity), Capital Project Delivery for Massachusetts. Ability to travel throughout our service territory for constuction purposes and meetings.
Job Purpose
Consistent with the Massachusetts’ 2021 Climate Act and the Massachusetts 2050 Decarbonization Roadmap, through DPU Order 20-75, the Department of Public Utilities approves a set of National Grid’s critical infrastructure upgrades to enable new distributed generation (DG) resources to take service in the many communities across central and western Massachusetts. The dedicated 20-75 Lead Project Manager will oversee and drive timely completion of several major, complex, large-scale substation construction projects which are part of the DPU 20-75 portfolio, ensuring high quality construction, safe delivery within budget, schedule and scope.
Key Accountabilities
- Drive the successful delivery and on time completion of the 20-75 CIPs
- Drive best-in-class strategic, critical, and complex electric capital construction projects ensuring safety, high quality construction, within budget, schedule and scope
- Take proactive measures to mitigate risks and optimize project efficiency
- Ensure project compliance with internal business management system (BMS) for major projects
- Manage siting, permitting, regulatory approvals including cost recovery mechanisms, and customer/community commitments.
- Navigate emerging issues and drive actionable solutions
- Build relationships and collaboration with stakeholders to understand requirements and expectations
- Deliver presentations on project updates to senior leaders
- Lead continuous improvement of project management processes, methodologies, and tools
- Provide guidance to junior project managers
- Provide emergency storm restoration support during weather events
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or other relevant fields, coupled with significant experience in project management, engineering, contracts, construction, and operations
- 5+ years of experience within the electric utility sector in one or more of the following areas: project management, engineering, contracts, construction or operations
- PMP / CAPM certification, PE license or other relevant certification preferred
- 5+ years of detailed project financial forecasting and reporting
- 5+ years of managing and coaching teams
- 5+ years of experience presenting to executives
- Primavera P6, Procore and PowerPlan experience
- Procore, Microsoft Office, Power BI, SharePoint, Power Point, Excel, Word and MS Teams experience
- Valid driver’s license
