National Grid Electricity Transmission is delivering one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure programmes, Eastern Green Link 3 (EGL 3) — a 575km, 2000MW HVDC cable connecting Peterhead in Scotland to Walpole in North Norfolk
This is one of the biggest energy transmission project of its kind in the UK. The Senior Project Manager role is focused on the delivery of the converter station in England.
EGL 3 will play an important role in building a more secure and resilient future energy system by reliably transporting electricity generated in Scotland, particularly from offshore wind, to the Midlands and South of England. This is a key programme in The Great Grid Upgrade, which will future-proof the Grid for years to come, facilitating the transition to a clean and more affordable energy future.
What you'll do
As Senior Project Manager, you’ll take charge of the multi-million-pound converter station works, steering it through development, design, planning, construction and delivery with precision, purpose, and passion.
You will play a leading role in:
• Delivery of civils design, Development Consent Order (DCO) planning requirements and integration with other work packages.
• Managing a small team of project managers as the team grows
• Managing design consultants and supply chain contractors to ensure delivery in a timely, efficient and consistent manner
• Taking responsibility to deliver the programme and budget within contract requirements
• Assuring safety during all phases of delivery, ensure compliance with CDM2015 regulations
• Drive stakeholder engagement through collaborative working and clear communication across teams
• Lead and inspire a high-performing, innovative team
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement to enhance safety, operational, financial, and customer performance
What you'll have
Essential
• Project Management and Occupational SHE certifications and Membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. APM, RICS, CIOB, CIBSE) or Chartered Engineer.
• Degree qualified
• Knowledge and experience of HVDC cable and converter projects.
• Experience of developing design solutions and planning requirements for DCO’s.
• Experience of NEC and FIDIC contracts.
• Background in major capital programme of work.
• Integration of complex design requirements.
• Extensive civil engineering experience.
• Commitment to safety and sound understanding of CDM.
• Strong IT skills and knowledge of design software.

What you'll get
From £66,000 – £80,000 dependent upon experience.
As well as your base salary you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.

Please note that this role has a variable base. We're flexible on where you're based but there will be a need to travel to sites and offices on a regular basis.
