This role forms part of the Eastern Green Link 3 (EGL 3) delivery team, responsible for supporting in all aspects of the ~ 100km southern onshore HVDC cable contract from landfall at Anderby Creek, Lincolnshire to the new build converter station at Walpole, Norfolk where there will also be ~5km underground AC cable.
As a Senior Project Manager, you'll lead a small team of project managers interfacing with internal technical and consenting teams, the Principal EPC Contractor and its subcontractors and other external stakeholders to ensure the delivery of the onshore cables scope of work.
You will be familiar with industry practices and standards covering the full life cycle of onshore cable installation, however, relevant experience of other linear infrastructure projects will be considered.
You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including, technical consultants, project managers, and joint-venture partners – interfacing with offshore submarine HVDC cable, Civil works, Converter & Substation packages.
In this role you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. You'll be flexible to travel throughout England and Scotland, depending on the project.
Key accountabilities
- Leadership: Supporting and developing the project managers in your team. Committing to developing yourself, in order to develop others. Taking responsibility for building relationships and strong networks and actively creating a diverse, inclusive work environment that allows project managers to flourish.
- Safety: Driving a positive safety culture for project managers and contractors alike. Quickly forming good working relationships with contractors and ensuring they know their safety obligations and can be left to work unsupervised. Ensuring visible and accessible communications are in place throughout the life of a project, such as safety charters and notifications of incidents and lessons learnt.
- Commercial: Reviewing your project managers’ forecasts, including risk forecasts, to ensure they are realistic and reasonable.
- Contract management: Strong knowledge of NEC / FIDIC contracts and experience in executing them to effectively to ensure all parties meet their obligations. Experience in risk and change management.
- Interface management: A key aspect of the role will be accountability for the complex interface with other contracts such as the civils work package.
About you
- Significant experience as a project manager with experience ideally in the full life cycle of onshore cable installation.
- Experience managing EPC contracts for complex linear infrastructure projects.
- Experience of interfacing with multiple technical disciplines and work streams.
- Experience of programme and risk management.
- Experience in building diverse teams and providing strong leadership and mentoring to junior ad senior members of staff.
- Background in engineering / construction-based roles for linear infrastructure projects.
- Chartership with a relevant organisation / society i.e. APM and NEBOSH is desirable.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £66,000 – £80,000 – dependent on capability.
