·Suitable technical/professional qualification such as Degree, ONC, Diploma or equivalent
·Member of IEMA or other professional body desirable
·Proficiency in carbon accounting and footprinting using recognised methodologies (e.g. GHG protocol, ISO14064)
·Ability to undertake whole lifecycle assessment and embodied carbon evaluation
·Familiarity with PAS2080 and its application in major infrastructure projects
·Experience in developing and reviewing carbon management plans
·Ability to define baselines, set reduction targets and report against KPIs and regulatory frameworks
·Understanding of compliance and reporting requirements or associated certification schemes
·Minimum of 5 years relevant industry experience
What you'll do
·Support and influence carbon reduction strategies aligned with NGET and NG Group net-zero commitments, tailored to the SI business unit
·Shape and implement carbon management programmes and procedures across SI projects, embedding carbon thinking from early design through to delivery
.Provide assurance to the SI Head of E&S that carbon related policies and standards are being delivered within the project portfolios and risks and opportunities are sufficiently identified to help drive continual improvement
·Assist E&S Leads for Onshore and Offshore in embedding carbon deliverables within the delivery portfolios
·Support behavioral change initiatives within SI that promote a low-carbon culture and sustainability awareness across teams
·Ensure that SI Management Systems and project management procedures such as BP500-SI include sufficient carbon deliverables and hold points to satisfy the NGET PAS2080 certification
·Develop and implement the necessary carbon management procedures for strategic infrastructure across its portfolio of complex construction projects, considering the varying delivery models such as IJVs and GGP
·Support in the calculation and maintenance of carbon baselines and models, including embodied carbon assessments and whole lifecycle analysis
·Track and report carbon KPIs, ensuring alignment with PAS 2080 and other frameworks such as SBTi, CSRD, SECR, and CDP
·Ensure compliance with carbon reporting obligations, including contractor and supply chain alignment to low-carbon commitments
·Develop and manage carbon tools, such as carbon calculators and digital dashboards, to support project teams, E&S colleagues and the supply chain
·Provide expert advice and coaching to stakeholders within SI including SHES, engineers, designers, PMO and delivery teams on carbon quantification and reduction opportunities
·Support innovation in low-carbon design and materials, working with the Sustainability Strategy Team, supply chain and technical leads to identify and implement solutions
·Deliver carbon training and workshops, tailored to project roles and aligned with strategic infrastructure goals
·Collaborate with a range of key internal stakeholders from across the NG Group to help drive a positive, supportive culture around carbon, ensuring it is strategically delivered at both business and project level
·Engage stakeholders across functions, including PMO, SHES, Consents, and Commercial, to embed carbon management into decision-making
·Represent Strategic Infrastructure with external stakeholders to promote carbon initiatives and feedback industry best practice
·Mentor E&S advisors and support the management of supply chain consultants, fostering a high-performing carbon team and promoting continuous improvement
·Contribute to carbon steering groups and other governance forums, ensuring visibility and accountability of the SI business
·Support the review of supply chain carbon management systems, ensuring PAS 2080 certification/alignment and credible reduction strategies
·Support procurement processes, embedding carbon requirements into contracts and supplier evaluations
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £61,000 - £68,000 – dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
