As Portfolio SHES Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of safety, health, environment and sustainability (SHES) on behalf of the Client across our Infrastructure Delivery (ID) portfolio of construction projects.  Ensuring the Electricity Transmission Partnership (ETP) operates to the highest standards through the project lifecycle, continually monitoring and auditing the standards by which the project and the supply chain operate, will all be key.

 

Driving change and promoting a culture of excellence, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish a proactive safety culture in all aspects of our operations. Through effective safety management systems, incident reporting, investigation, and corrective action processes, you’ll identify potential hazards, ensure risks are mitigated, and a safe working environment is maintained.

 

Developing and implementing programmes which prioritise the physical and mental well-being of our employees, you’ll use data led interventions to work with and improve the supply chain prior to incidents occurring through sharing best practice from top performing partners.  Fundamentally changing our approach to Safety from reactive to proactive whilst promoting a healthy work environment, ensuring compliance with health-related regulations and best practices will form part of your remit.

 

In addition, you’ll lead on our efforts to minimise the environmental impact of our operations by developing and implementing environmental management systems, energy efficiency initiatives, waste reduction programs, and sustainable practices. By staying updated on environmental regulations and industry trends, you’ll ensure compliance and drive continuous improvement in our environmental performance.

 

We’re flexible on where you are based but there will be a need to travel regularly to sites and contractor offices throughout England and Wales, and this can be combined with hybrid working from home.

 

 

What you'll need

 

We’re looking for someone with a background in SHES, with an extensive understanding of Safety and Environmental legislation and practices and policies relating to Construction, coupled with a working knowledge of CDM Regulations with relation to Client & Principal Contractor duties.

 

Experience of working in a high-risk environment, or with multi-disciplined construction projects, working to deadlines in a commercial environment and an awareness of contract management within fixed price and target cost contracts are all essential.  Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability and confidence to communicate and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, are essential.

 

You will hold a NEBOSH qualification and a current driving licence, and have excellent organisational, planning and time management skills.

 

With a drive and enthusiasm for continuous improvement and experience of change management, you’ll be able to motivate others and be personally committed to finding new ways of working in conjunction with others to achieve business goals.  Experience of working with regulatory agencies and external stakeholders is also key.
