The Great Grid Upgrade is the largest overhaul of the UK's electricity network in generations. As a Land Portfolio Analyst, you'll play a critical role in ensuring National Grid's major infrastructure projects have the land rights, governance, reporting and performance insight needed to deliver a cleaner, more secure energy future.
This is a unique opportunity for a highly organised and data-driven professional to sit at the heart of our Land function, providing strategic portfolio oversight across Electricity Transmission New Infrastructure (ETNI) and Strategic Infrastructure New Infrastructure (SINI) projects.
You'll work with senior leaders, project teams and surveyors across the business, turning complex data into meaningful insight, driving governance excellence and helping shape decisions that impact nationally significant infrastructure projects.
This role offers hybrid working, with flexibility to travel across England and Wales for team collaboration.
What you'll be doing
- Lead the production and continuous improvement of ETNI/SINI portfolio reporting and performance insights.
- Act as the subject matter expert for portfolio workbooks and Power BI reporting, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
- Produce monthly Project Portfolio Reports, providing clear analysis, performance trends and evidence-based recommendations.
- Chair Project Review Boards, driving accountability, action ownership and risk management.
- Identify recurring issues, risks and opportunities across the portfolio and recommend improvements.
- Support surveyors and project teams with project controls, governance and compliance activities.
- Shape land strategies and workforce planning alongside senior leadership.
- Manage relationships with external land suppliers and monitor delivery performance.
- Coordinate governance requirements for major project milestones and approvals.
- Lead knowledge-sharing initiatives, capturing lessons learned and promoting best practice.
- Manage the team's SharePoint environment and act as data steward for portfolio information.
About you
We're looking for someone who combines strong analytical capability with excellent stakeholder management skills.
You'll ideally bring:
- Experience working with complex datasets, reporting and performance management.
- Strong Excel, Microsoft Office and SharePoint skills.
- Experience using Power BI or similar reporting tools.
- Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- The ability to influence and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Experience managing competing priorities and delivering to tight deadlines.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
It would also be beneficial if you have:
- Knowledge of infrastructure, utilities, property, land, planning or project delivery environments.
- An awareness of land, consenting or compulsory purchase processes.
- Experience supporting governance, portfolio management or project controls activities.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £42,000 - £52,000 – dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
