Land & Property Safety and Compliance Lead
National Grid are recruiting a new and exciting role Land & Property Safety and Compliance Lead to join our ET Property Team! The individual will oversee compliance across a national portfolio of ET Asset Operations properties, ensuring operational excellence, statutory compliance, and risk management. They manage technical specifications and service matrices for facilities management and planned maintenance, including asset register approvals. They ensure contract scope adherence and collaborate with relevant teams to implement changes. Responsible for communicating compliance and Health and Safety performance to stakeholders, they also provide technical support and act as the key contact for resolving operational and maintenance risks. They maintain full compliance with National Grid policies, contribute to policy improvements, and lead an audit programme to monitor supplier performance against KPIs, asset standards, and Health and Safety requirements.
This role will require some travel to National Grid offices and operational sites and occasionally staying away from home. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
What You'll Do
- Take a leading role in evaluating supplier’s approaches and capabilities to ensure full statutory compliance of ET Asset Operations property portfolio.
- Continually seek improvements to performance of a range of service contracts and challenge where appropriate to drive behaviour of continuous improvement
- Responsible for ensuring the ET Asset Operations property portfolio is operated and maintained in line with defined site strategy and standards
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of services delivered by the external supply chain in compliance with contract conditions and legislative constraints
- Plan and undertake agreed levels of assurance checks of the ET Asset Operations property portfolio and report findings of any deviations from contractual or legislative frameworks to the Land and Property Manager
- Promote Health & Safety policies and culture within the Land and Property Management team and across the supplier base
- Act as lead within ET Land and Property Management team for agreeing amendments to technical specifications for planned maintenance activities, working collaboratively with relevant teams.
- Act as lead on ET Asset Operations property asset register, monitoring standards of data integrity and driving completeness of data
- Work with Suppliers and internal teams to identify asset management scope gaps within existing contracts and collaborate with the contract management team to update and refine contract scope accordingly.
- Take lead in developing asset replacement plans and where necessary contribute to compiling business cases for presentation to senior management and regulatory submissions
- Take the lead in review of risk assessments actions, providing expert guidance on mitigation strategies and ensuring timely implementation of remedial measures in collaboration with the FM supply chain to maintain compliance and reduce operational risk.
- Provide support for tender and contract activities as required, ensuring effective coordination and delivery.
What You'll Have
- Member of, or qualifications leading to membership of IWFM, CIBSE, IET, IMechE,
- Effective contract management skills
- HNC in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Civil), in depth knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, Building Systems and minor civil works.
- NEBOSH Certificate.
- Expert knowledge of BESA SFG20 maintenance specification and asset management processes including development of bespoke maintenance regimes where required.
- Knowledge of legislation and ACoPs relating to management of water systems
- Knowledge of NSI30 and AMBP310 and their application.
- Knowledge of ISO18000 (for safety), ISO9001 (Quality), ISO55001 (Asset Management), ISO14001 (Environmental) or other related standards would be advantageous.
- Detailed understanding of M&E infrastructure, life safety systems and all current legislation associated with assets leased or owned by National Grid.
- Extensive experience in a lead technical role with responsibility for both mechanical and electrical infrastructure maintenance and life cycle replacement.
- Property and Facilities Management activities in a high-risk environment including obligations of duty holder roles and how these are discharged.
- Detailed understanding of the roles and responsibilities associated with the operation, maintenance and development of a property estate including those of the site occupier, landlord/tenant, managing agents etc
- Experience in managing external supply chain partners to effectively deliver activities which ensure legal compliance.
- Exploitation of data to identify trends, production of reports illustrating profiles of asset information.
