We are recruiting for an EPC Project Manager to support on the Eastern Green Link 4 (EGL4) project. This individual will be part of a team developing and constructing a series of HVDC project along the East Coast of the UK. This role offers hybrid working with travel required to Edinburgh and Walpole. We’re happy to discuss flexible working arrangements to make this role work for you.

Job Purpose

Your role will be to manage EPC projects to time and budget, hitting key milestones along the way, focussing on the construction of a Converter Station. You’ll be accountable for meeting agreed programme, cost and quality outcomes, while embedding health, safety and environmental excellence throughout the project lifecycle and delivering against regulatory, stakeholder and customer commitments.

Working closely with the Senior Project Manager, you’ll support the delivery of key programmes, enabling the timely supply of critical, long-lead equipment across the National Grid portfolio.

What You'll Do

• Managing key sections of the Strategic Infrastructure project within the Delivery Team to develop, deliver and close-out the construction and installation of a Converter Station.
• Working collaboratively with National Grid and JV Partner colleagues.
• Working closely with our OEM Contractors.
• Design Development co-ordination with cable, DNO, Civils interfaces.
• Liaison with consents teams to ensure planning conditions are met.
• Ensure design principals are met ensuring Asset Operations are informed in design development.
• Monitor and control investment throughout the process.
• Ensuring programme activities are completed to achieve key milestones.
• Employing a robust risk management process, identifying both risks and opportunities and working with the wider team to manage the risks in a timely manner.
• Effective change control management, ensuring the project remains within governance.
• Fostering an environment where everyone, regardless of seniority, feels able to share their concerns.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory standards. Displaying a visible commitment to safety and setting the tone of project safety. For example, by conducting site visits and providing timely feedback on improvements.
• Fostering a collaborative environment with the supply chain, including principal contractors; suppliers of services and plant; customers; landowners; and local authorities, residents and businesses.
• Ensuring visible and accessible communications are in place throughout the life of a project.
• Oversee contracting strategies, tendering and Works Information development.
• Support project governance, documentation, testing, commissioning and asset handover.

About You

• Project Management experience with responsibility for safety, cost, programme, risk and governance.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering EPC projects and programmes.
• Confident operating within regulated environments and established governance frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of CDM, health, safety and environmental legislation.
• A strong technical foundation in a related subject such as civil engineering/geotechnical/construction.
• Knowledge of electricity transmission systems, mechanical/electrical acumen is desirable but not essential.
• Substation or converter station experience is desirable but not essential.
• Proven experience leading cross‑functional teams and managing diverse stakeholders.
• Strong communicator with excellent influencing and negotiation skills.
• Proactive problem solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Have a full, clean UK driving license. 

What You'll Get

A competitive salary of £55,000 – £67,000 per annum, depending on capability. This role also comes with a market supplement of £4,500 which is spread across a 12 month period.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
