About the role
Join us at the heart of The Great Grid Upgrade, one of the UK's largest and most ambitious infrastructure programmes.
As a Construction Sustainability Advisor supporting Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2), you'll help shape how major energy infrastructure is delivered, driving sustainable construction practices, reducing environmental impact and ensuring positive outcomes for communities, nature and future generations.
This is a chance to influence decisions that matter. From embedding low-carbon solutions and enhancing biodiversity to supporting responsible delivery across complex construction sites, you'll play an important role in helping us build a cleaner, more resilient energy network.
We're open to applications from across the UK and offer hybrid working. You'll have the opportunity to travel across England and Scotland to project sites, stakeholder meetings and team locations, giving you direct involvement in one of the UK's most significant energy projects.
What you'll do

Partner with Sustainability Managers and project teams to develop and deliver sustainability strategies that support successful project outcomes.

Champion sustainability across projects, bringing our ambitions to life for teams, contractors, and stakeholders at every stage of delivery.

Drive the adoption of sustainability best practice, standards, and frameworks across all aspects of project delivery.

Work closely with contractors to achieve, and where possible exceed, ambitious sustainability targets.

Act as a trusted source of sustainability expertise, providing advice and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

Monitor, measure, and report on sustainability performance, providing insights that influence key project decisions.

Identify opportunities for innovation, continuous improvement, and the adoption of new sustainable approaches.

Promote a strong SHESQ culture and support the delivery of safe, sustainable construction practices across project sites.
What you'll bring
- Proven experience delivering sustainability or environmental outcomes on major infrastructure, construction, or capital projects.
- Strong knowledge of sustainability principles, frameworks, and industry best practice, with the ability to apply them in a practical project environment.
- Experience working collaboratively with contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to engage and challenge at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex sustainability requirements into clear, practical actions.
- A genuine passion for driving positive environmental and sustainability outcomes.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced project environment.
- Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in sustainability, environmental management, or a related discipline.
- Membership of ISEP or a similar professional body is desirable.
- A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £56,000 - £65,000 – dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a job requirement company car, a bonus based on personal performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
