About The Role

 

 

Brand New Role – Permanent – Yorkshire/ Midlands

 As part of our continued growth and project developments we are seeking a Construction Delivery Manger for our Brinsworth to High Marnham Uprating Project, part of our newest business unit at National Grid called Strategic Infrastructure (S.I)

The main city area’s close these projects include Rotherham, Chesterfield and Nottingham, therefore applicants should consider themselves commutable around these geographies.

You’ll manage up to 10 direct reports including Project Supervisors and Senior Project Supervisors with construction scheduled to start in the summer of 2026.

 

You’ll be site based and we continue to offer hybrid working from office and home.

We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

  • Demonstrable experience of managing complex projects during delivery
  • Experience of multi-disciplined construction projects working to deadlines in a commercial environment and awareness of contract management within fixed price and target cost contracts
  • Knowledge of quality management and site inspection requirements and the application of Inspection & test plans for compliant project delivery
  • Extensive understanding of safety and environmental legislation and practices and policies relating to Construction and working knowledge of CDM Regulations with relation to client & PC duties
  • Strong level of communication and influencing skills
  • A passion for major infrastructure delivering a net zero future for the UK

What You'll Do

 

 

  • Lead, develop and performance manage a team up to 10 Project Supervisors to support the safe delivery of Onshore Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) portfolio of projects in SI to cost, time and quality.
  • Lead a team in the consistent provision of the formal National Grid Electricity Transmission interface with the contractor for all day-to-day construction activities, and monitor the areas progress, collaboratively resolving programme risk escalations to the Project Director, SI SHES, Risk & Assurance and Engineering Managers.
  • Provide dedicated leadership for assigned Project(s) on SI Onshore to manage internal and external support functions to comply with SHESQ, planning requirements and National Grid policies and procedures.
  • Lead the effective implementation, coordination, execution and monitoring of all aspects of planning requirements, Health, Safety, Environmental, Sustainability and Quality Assurance on assigned projects.
  • Enable programmatic management of PS resources across projects to optimise performance across SI Onshore.  
  • Provide the Senior Project Managers with updates on specific project performance and technical advice.
  • Lead the consistent methodology and application and supporting regular site construction meetings with Contractors and ensure the facilitation of regular site safety walks to ensure that activities are being managed as per the agreed Construction Phase Plan.
  • Implement a Centre of Excellence to review continuous improvement and capture lessons learned, ensuring best practice is both promoted and utilised across the projects within the region and sharing across SI Onshore and the wider business.
  • Support Incident Investigations across SI Onshore and embed key findings within a Centre of Excellence to apply strategic direction to Project Supervision tasks.
  • Resource management ensuring your team are adequately trained, have the appropriate level of competence and authorisation processes as required for all tasks and succession planning. 
  • Support all respective training and development programmes to grow Organisational Capability.
  • Coordinate with the SI SHES function to evaluate and conduct assurance requirements based on proactive and reactive plans
  • As a manager at National Grid, you are expected to live the company values, as well as demonstrating and continually developing your leadership skills.

What You'll Get

 

 

A competitive starting salary between £66,000 – £80,000 dependent on capability.
