Build infrastructure that respects the environment as much as it powers it.

As a Construction Environmental Advisor on Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2), you’ll play a vital role in delivering a landmark infrastructure project that will transform how electricity moves across the country.

EGL2 is a 505km HVDC subsea “electricity superhighway” connecting Peterhead in Aberdeenshire to Drax in North Yorkshire – the largest transmission project of its kind in the UK.

  • Champion best practice across major construction programmes
  • Influence key decisions to minimise environmental impact
  • Provide expert advice to project teams and contractors
  • Drive a strong environmental culture across high-profile works

Working at the heart of a complex, high-value project, you’ll help ensure infrastructure is delivered sustainably, safely, and with long-term impact in mind.

This role offers hybrid working, with 2–3 days per week on-site across North Yorkshire (Drax / wider Leeds area).

What you'll do

  • Partner with project teams and stakeholders to shape and deliver effective environmental management strategies
  • Translate environmental requirements into clear, actionable guidance for teams and contractors
  • Lead on training, tools and resources, ensuring teams understand key environmental risks and how to manage them
  • Monitor contractor performance and compliance, providing assurance that environmental standards are met
  • Act as the go-to expert for environmental advice, supporting innovation and best practice across the project
  • Track and report environmental performance, ensuring all reporting requirements are met efficiently
  • Support investigations into environmental incidents, embedding lessons learned across the supply chain
  • Champion a strong SHESQ culture, acting as a visible advocate across the project

About you

  • Experience in environmental management within major infrastructure or construction projects
  • Strong knowledge of environmental best practice in project delivery
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and drive behavioural change
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Passion for sustainable, responsible infrastructure delivery
  • Degree (or equivalent) in an environmental or related discipline
  • Professional membership (e.g. ISEP/IEMA) desirable
  • Full UK driving licence

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £54,000 - £65,000 – dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a job requirement company car, a bonus based on personal performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
