National Grid is hiring a Assistant Connections Engineer - This position is based on a Varible base as you'll be flexible to travel to offices and project sites as and when required.
Job Purpose
As an Assistant Connections Engineer you’ll play a key part in the connections process, supporting the development of both solutions and costs for new projects as well as working with established Users to modify their existing connection solutions. You’ll be interacting with traditional User groups such as generators, large demand loads and Distribution Networks as well as those newer emerging technologies such as Hydrogen projects and large Data Centre connections.
What You'll Do
Essential requirements of the role will also see you provide support and on occasion a lead role to resolve both customer, NESO and other key Stakeholder queries during the connection journey to ensure that our decision-making process is fully transparent, and their expectations managed.
- With support from the Lead Connections Engineer, work in collaboration with Contract Managers, Development Engineers, Project Managers and Power System Engineers to develop connection offers for various customer groups, generators and Distribution Networks within agreed timescales.
- Using various design tools and systems, develop connections solutions that provide details of both scope, cost and programme timescales, whilst adhering to industry frameworks and internal governance.
- Actively support the regional multi-disciplinary teams during the connections process, acting as Subject Matter Expert for the offer process and ensuring that the technical, commercial and legal positions are aligned.
- Ensure core systems used within the offer process are up to date as well as attending governance meetings ahead of offer release.
- Drive customer and stakeholder satisfaction through positive engagement, transparency and timeliness of issues resolution.
About You
- Experience of Customer and Stakeholder management.
- Knowledge of the Electricity Transmission System and primary assets preferred.
- Knowledge of the Connections Process preferred.
- Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to influence outcomes
- Awareness of relevant business processes and frameworks preferred but not essential
- Attention to detail and experience of working in a high volume work environments essential
- Ability to work within regulated deadlines
- Developing knowledge of RIIO framework (not essential)
What You'll Get
A competitive salary between £43,000 – £48,000 dependent on capability
As well as your base salary, you will receive
- 26 days holiday, plus eight statutory days, an option to buy extra holiday days, and the option to holiday swap up to 3 bank holiday days
